How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Patient Transport Assistant (Full-Time) Established in 2016, Mersey Medical Services Ltd is a CQC-regulated private ambulance service specialising in high-quality pre-hospital care and patient transport. We mobilise and equip professional ambulance crews across Manchester and throughout the UK. Our patients are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to delivering safe, compassionate and excellent standards of care. We ensure all our frontline staff meet the requirements of the CQC and its Fundamental Standards. Our modern, multipurpose fleet enables us to provide a high-quality patient transport service across a variety of healthcare settings. The Role We are looking for compassionate, reliable and motivated Patient Transport Assistant to join our team based in Trafford Park. As a Patient Transport Assistant, you will work in a variety of patient facing environments, including frontline and event medical services. Working alongside a crewmate, you will respond to non-emergency situations while ensuring every patient receives safe, dignified and compassionate care. We are committed to supporting the development of our staff and offer opportunities for continued professional development, including CPD events, advanced driver training and annual Basic Life Support training for committed team members.

    • Provide non-emergency patient transport to a wide variety of patients between hospitals, healthcare facilities and private settings, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    • Support the delivery of pre-hospital emergency care within your level of competence and training.

    • Safely transfer patients to and from ambulances using appropriate specialist equipment and manual handling techniques.

    • Accurately complete all documentation relating to patients, vehicles and equipment. • Provide appropriate care and treatment within your assessed level of competence and in line with current best practice.

    • Obtain relevant information from patients, carers and other individuals at the scene and communicate appropriately with healthcare professionals, hospitals and other relevant parties.

    • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure all information is handled appropriately. • Be alert to patients' social, environmental and safeguarding needs and report any concerns to the appropriate person or organisation.

    • Participate in cleaning and infection prevention and control procedures, including cleaning vehicles, equipment and garage facilities.

    • Complete vehicle and equipment check at the start of and throughout each shift to ensure vehicles are safe, operational and fully equipped.

    • Report vehicle, equipment or other defects and damage in accordance with company policies and procedures. • Maintain competence in all relevant skills and knowledge and actively participate in CPD and personal development activities. • Work effectively as part of a team while also using your own initiative when required. • Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role, skills and qualifications of the post-holder.

    Person Specification Essential

    • Full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. • Minimum of 12 months' driving experience since first obtaining a UK driving licence.

    • Flexibility regarding working hours.

    • Physically fit and able to undertake the physical requirements of the role, including patient transfers and manual handling.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and healthcare professionals.

    • Ability to complete relevant paperwork and documentation to a high clinical standard.

    • Demonstrable ability to work effectively in an emergency ambulance or patient transport environment.

    • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workloads effectively, making best use of available time and resources.

    • Commitment to delivering a high-quality patient experience and ensuring patient satisfaction.

    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating initiative when required.

    • Willingness to learn, develop and adapt to new skills and responsibilities. Desirable • Valid FREC 3 qualification.

    • Minimum of 6 months' experience in health and social care, such as a care home, hospital or emergency/frontline setting.
