How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HR Manager - Part Time

    Salary: Circa £40,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience | 25 paid hours per week

    Monday-Thursday 9:30am-3:30pm | Friday 9:30am-12:30pm

    Birmingham Site Based | Occasional Travel to Our Scotland Manufacturing Site

    We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to join our established manufacturing business as our HR Manager. This is a senior, hands-on position reporting directly to the Directors and taking day-to-day ownership of the Company's HR function.

    We are looking for someone who enjoys being part of the business – somebody who can build strong relationships with employees, Supervisors and Directors while providing professional, practical and commercially sensible HR advice.

    The position offers an unusual combination of senior-level responsibility with genuinely attractive working hours.

    The role will be based at our Birmingham manufacturing site, with occasional travel to our Scotland manufacturing site, typically only a few times each year.

    The Role

    * Providing HR advice to Directors, managers and supervisors.

    * Employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, investigation and capability matters.

    * Absence and attendance management.

    * Employee welfare support and wellbeing.

    * Occupational Health referrals and reasonable adjustments.

    * Recruitment, onboarding, contracts and employee documentation.

    * Weekly payroll and Time & Attendance administration.

    * Pensions, Auto Enrolment and employee benefits administration.

    * HR policies, Employee Handbooks, employment law and compliance.

    * HR reporting, management information and workforce/succession planning.

    * Improving and digitising HR processes.

    You'll work closely with our external HR advisers on more complex matters but will have the experience and confidence to manage the majority of day-to-day HR matters independently.

    About You

    * CIPD Level 5 qualified or above.

    * Significant generalist HR experience.

    * Experience at HR Manager, Senior HR Advisor, HR Business Partner or similar level.

    * Strong practical knowledge of UK employment law.

    * Good employee relations and case-management experience.

    * Payroll administration experience.

    * Excellent organisational and communication skills.

    * Confidence advising managers and senior management.

    * A practical, approachable and hands-on style.

    Experience within manufacturing, engineering or another operational environment would be particularly advantageous. Experience of Moorepay, Time & Attendance systems, pensions and employee benefits would also be beneficial.

    Hours

    This is a permanent, part-time position working 25 paid hours per week:

    * Monday-Thursday: 9:30am-3:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day.

    * Friday: 9:30am-12:30pm.

    The role is site based and regular home working is not available. A small amount of flexibility outside these hours may occasionally be required to deal with employee or business matters.

    Salary & Benefits

    * Circa £40,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience.

    * 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.

    * AXA Private Medical Insurance.

    * Company Pension Scheme

    * Professional development and training.

    Why Join Us?

    We are a long-established, family-run manufacturing business, founded in 1959. While the business has grown and evolved considerably over the years, we have retained the values and personal approach that come with being a family business.

    This isn't an HR administration role. You'll be our senior day-to-day HR professional, working closely with our Directors and Supervisors and having a genuine opportunity to influence how we manage, support and develop our people.

    You'll become an important part of the business, getting to know our people and our operation rather than simply managing HR from a distance. We want someone who can build trusted relationships across the company, provide sound and practical advice, and help us continue to develop our approach to people and HR for the future.

    For an experienced HR professional looking for a senior position with genuine responsibility, direct access to the decision-makers and an excellent work-life balance, we believe this is a particularly unusual opportunity.

    If you have the experience, judgement and personality to become a trusted HR partner within a successful family business with more than 65 years of history, we'd like to hear from you
