How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Class 1 HGV Driver (Depot & Relief / PDI Support)

    Location: Wakefield

    Job Type: Permanent, Full time; Monday – Friday, early starts and flexibility required. Overtime and weekend work may be necessary

    Overview:

    Unify are thrilled to be recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Driver to join a prominent company that provides a wide range of services including powered access, telescopic handler rental, machinery sales, contract hire options and specialized training programs.

    Our client is a leader in equipment hire and is currently undergoing remarkable growth. As a Class 1 Driver you will be delivering and collecting a range of powered access, ensuring safety checks are complete and upholding customer service. Also, a great opportunity to assist in the depot and workshop for pre delivery inspections of machinery.

    What do I need?

    * A valid Class 1 HGV licence with a clean driving record

    * CPC qualification and a valid Tachograph card

    * The right to work in the UK

    * Previous experience transporting heavy plant machinery, powered access or similar equipment (highly desirable)

    * Solid knowledge of driver hours and tachograph regulations

    Responsibilities:

    * Provide cover for driver holidays on both Class 1 and 2 Vehicles

    * Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly to ensure continued compliance

    * Willingness to learn and assist in the depots workshop with preparing and carrying out pre delivery inspections of powered access machinery

    * Collection and delivery of hire machinery to and from customer sites

    * Load, secure and unload machinery in accordance with health and safety standards

    * Handover of machinery whilst following company code of practice

    * Comply with legislation regarding vehicle safety, company policies and relevant health and safety

    * Daily completion of vehicle checks, ensuring vehicle is kept in good working condition and clean

    * Effectively manage own working time to deliver and collect powered access in a timely and professional manner

    * Provide outstanding customer service

    * Adhere to all legal requirements and company standards concerning road safety, weight limits and driver hours
