How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading fire safety consultancy that is looking to appoint an Entry-Level Fire Door Surveyor to join its growing team in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the fire safety and building compliance sector. Full training and support will be provided, making this an ideal role for candidates with some relevant construction, surveying, property or fire safety experience — or someone looking to take their first step into the industry.

    The Role

As a Fire Door Surveyor, you will be trained to undertake inspections of fire doors across a variety of residential and commercial buildings, helping clients ensure their properties meet the required fire safety standards.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out fire door inspections and surveys across a range of buildings
Assessing fire doorsets for condition, installation and compliance
Identifying defects, damage and potential fire safety concerns
Recording survey findings accurately using digital systems
Taking photographs and maintaining detailed site records
Producing clear and accurate survey reports
Liaising professionally with clients and other site personnel
Travelling to sites throughout Manchester and the wider region
Developing your knowledge of relevant fire safety legislation, standards and guidance
Working alongside experienced fire safety professionals and surveyors

    About You

We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, technically minded and interested in developing a career within fire safety.

You don't necessarily need previous fire door surveying experience — full training will be provided.

    The ideal candidate will have:

An interest in fire safety, construction, surveying or building compliance
    Strong attention to detail
Good written and verbal communication skills
The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
A professional approach when dealing with clients and site contacts
Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems
A willingness to travel to different sites
A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
Previous experience in construction, property, facilities management, building surveying, fire safety or a similar environment would be beneficial, but is not essential.

    Career Progression

This is more than just an entry-level surveying position. The successful candidate will receive training and mentoring from experienced fire safety professionals, with a clear opportunity to progress as their knowledge and experience develops.
