How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Planner
    £65,000 - £85,000

    I am currently working with the client, a well-established construction business, who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planner to join their project team.

    This is a key role responsible for developing, managing and monitoring project programmes from pre-construction through to completion. The successful candidate will work closely with the project management team, design teams, subcontractors and wider supply chain to ensure programmes are realistic, fully coordinated and effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

    THE ROLE
    As Senior Planner you will take ownership of the planning function across the project, providing the programme information and analysis required to support effective decision-making and project delivery.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    •Develop detailed baseline programmes covering design and procurement,
    •Develop detailed baseline programmes for construction, commissioning and handover.
    •Ensure programmes are fully logic-linked and correctly sequenced.
    •Establish and maintain clear programme critical paths.
    •Produce construction and target programmes to improve project delivery.
    •Develop tender programmes covering subcontractor procurement and design release.
    •Include procurement periods and subcontractor lead-in activities within programmes.
    •Maintain accurate planning records within the project’s Common Data Environment (CDE).
    •Provide programme information, analysis and reporting to the project management team.
    •Develop 4D graphical models to demonstrate construction sequencing and logistics.
    •Produce 2D phasing plans where required to support project delivery.
    •Support project preliminaries planning, including staff and labour requirements.
    •Develop logistics and temporary works requirements within project programmes.
    •Work with subcontractors to develop realistic design and construction programmes.
    •Coordinate supply chain input on design, lead-ins and construction periods.
    •Assess plant, labour and resource requirements for project delivery.
    •Identify programme risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
    •Develop appropriate mitigation measures for identified programme risks.
    •Incorporate float and time-risk allowances into project programmes.
    •Monitor progress against programme and highlight areas requiring attention.
    •Provide planning advice to support project management and decision-making.

    ABOUT YOU
    The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction planning, with experience working on complex construction projects and the ability to develop and manage programmes from inception through to handover.

    •Proven experience in a construction planning role, ideally at Senior Planner level.
    •Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, procurement, design coordination and project delivery.
    •Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or other recognised construction planning software.
    •Experience with progress analysis, S-curves and programme reporting.
    •A good understanding of cost and resource management.
    •Experience working with subcontractors / supply chain to develop and maintain project programmes.
    •Strong understanding of programme risk, mitigation, float and time-risk allowances.
    •The ability to communicate programme information to both project teams and senior management.
    •Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    A relevant degree, diploma or professional qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, Planning or a related discipline would be advantageous.

    Additional planning/project management software training and relevant professional membership or certification would also be beneficial.
