How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior Project Manager – Process / Water Engineering

Location: Snodland / South East England
    Salary: £75,000 – £90,000 + Package
    Employment Type: Permanent
Sector: Water, Wastewater, Process Engineering & MEICA

Gearing Recruitment Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join an established process engineering contractor, delivering major projects across the South East water sector.

This is a senior delivery and leadership opportunity for an experienced Project Manager who has a strong background in water, wastewater, process engineering or MEICA and is ready to take ownership of larger, more complex schemes or multiple projects.

You’ll play a key role in leading project delivery from pre-construction through to completion and handover, working across multidisciplinary teams and managing the interfaces between engineering, construction, commercial, commissioning and the wider supply chain.

    The Role

As Senior Project Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of major or multiple water and wastewater projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, commercially and to programme.

You’ll provide leadership across project teams, working closely with senior client stakeholders, designers, commercial teams, site management and specialist subcontractors to manage delivery, resolve challenges and drive projects forward.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead the delivery of multiple process/MEICA-led water projects or larger, complex schemes across the South East.

    * Take ownership of programme, budget, quality, health & safety, risk and client relationships across your projects.

    * Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across MEICA, process, civil, construction and commissioning disciplines.

    * Manage key project interfaces and ensure effective coordination between design, construction, commissioning and the supply chain.

    * Work closely with commercial teams to manage NEC contracts, change, variations, risk and commercial performance.

    * Provide leadership and direction to Project Managers, Engineers, Site Teams and specialist subcontractors where required.

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client-side project, engineering and operational stakeholders.

    * Oversee procurement, project reporting, programme management and delivery strategy.

    * Identify and manage project risks, opportunities and changes throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with CDM, RAMS, permits, quality standards and project governance requirements.

    About You

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager or an established Project Manager ready to step into a more senior position, with:

    * Proven experience delivering projects within water, wastewater, utilities, process engineering or a similar environment.

    * Strong technical understanding of MEICA, with the ability to manage complex civil, process and engineering interfaces.

    * Experience delivering capital works, treatment works, pumping stations, process upgrades or similar water infrastructure projects.

    * Strong understanding of NEC contracts, including change, risk and commercial management.

    * Experience managing larger or multiple projects, multidisciplinary teams and complex supply chains.

    * The confidence to engage with and influence senior client stakeholders.

    * Strong commercial awareness and a proven ability to manage project budgets and performance.

    * Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

    * SMSTS, CSCS and a relevant engineering/construction qualification would be advantageous.

    * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South East.

    What's on Offer?

    * £75,000 – £90,000 salary + package

    * Permanent position with an established water/process engineering contractor

    * Long-term work secured through a strong water-sector project pipeline

    * Opportunity to lead major and technically complex process/MEICA projects

    * Senior position with significant responsibility and influence over project delivery

    * Exposure to major water infrastructure programmes and key client stakeholders

    * Excellent opportunity for continued career progression within an experienced and growing delivery team

If you’re an experienced Senior Project Manager or Project Manager with water, wastewater, process or MEICA experience and are looking for a senior role with genuine responsibility across the South East water sector, we’d be keen to hear from you.
