How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The role

    Leading civil engineering design projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction stages.

    Delivering highway and drainage design solutions for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.

    Preparing and reviewing technical reports, drawings, specifications and calculations.

    Managing project programmes, resources and technical delivery.

    Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.

    Liaising with clients, local authorities, contractors and other design disciplines.

    Ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards, on time and within budget.

    Supporting the continued growth and development of the wider engineering team.

    What you need to succeed

    A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

    Significant experience within UK civil engineering consultancy/design environments.

    Strong technical experience in highways and drainage design.

    Experience delivering infrastructure solutions for residential, commercial or mixed-use developments.

    A strong understanding of relevant design standards and industry guidance.

    Experience using design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.

    Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

    The ability to manage projects independently and support the development of junior team members.

    Ideally Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation.

    Experience preparing Section 38, Section 104, Section 106 and Section 278 agreements.

    Experience coordinating with local authorities and external stakeholders.

    Previous experience acting as a technical lead on civil engineering projects
