Winsearch is proud to partner with an established specialist contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Construction Package Manager to support the delivery of major construction projects.
This is a hands-on delivery role with responsibility for assigned construction packages from mobilisation through to completion. You’ll coordinate subcontractors, labour, design information, procurement, logistics and programme requirements, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of construction packages such as windows, external doors, building services, interiors and associated works.
Working closely with project, design, planning, commercial and site teams, you’ll ensure each package is properly coordinated and aligned with the wider construction programme.
The role requires someone who can maintain control of competing priorities, resolve problems quickly and communicate clearly with subcontractors, clients, consultants and internal teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Taking full ownership of assigned construction packages
Coordinating package delivery against the project programme
Managing subcontractor performance, productivity and compliance
Developing and maintaining short-term lookahead programmes
Monitoring progress and identifying potential delays
Implementing recovery plans where required
Coordinating design, procurement, logistics and site activities
Planning labour, plant, materials, access and storage requirements
Managing interfaces between different construction packages
Leading daily briefings and coordination meetings
Reviewing subcontractor RAMS, ITPs and technical submissions
Carrying out site inspections, audits and toolbox talks
Ensuring works comply with drawings, specifications and relevant standards
Managing quality inspections, snagging, defects and handover
Supporting commercial teams with package costs and variations
Monitoring subcontractor progress against valuations
Identifying and reporting commercial risks, changes and opportunities
Providing regular progress updates to senior management
Liaising with the client, consultants and relevant authorities where required
Health And Safety
You’ll lead by example and ensure high health and safety standards are maintained throughout package delivery.
Responsibilities will include:
Ensuring subcontractors comply with site policies and approved procedures
Reviewing and approving risk assessments and method statements
Monitoring safe systems of work
Carrying out inspections and compliance checks
Addressing unsafe practices promptly
Supporting an incident-free working environment
Programme And Planning
You’ll maintain programme control across your assigned packages.
This will include:
Producing short-term lookahead programmes
Tracking progress against the master programme
Coordinating package sequencing and interfaces
Identifying slippage and programme risks
Working with planners to update progress and forecasts
Developing practical recovery plans when works fall behind
Quality Management
You’ll ensure work is delivered correctly first time and that all required supporting evidence is maintained.
This will include:
Implementing Inspection and Test Plans
Monitoring installation quality
Coordinating inspections and sign-offs
Managing snagging and defects
Maintaining accurate quality records
Supporting package completion and handover
Liaising with QA/QC teams and client representatives
What They’re Looking For
Proven experience managing construction packages
Experience working for a main contractor or specialist contractor on major projects
Strong understanding of construction processes and sequencing
Experience managing subcontractors and site teams
Ability to coordinate design, procurement, logistics and installation
Good programme-management and planning skills
Strong understanding of health and safety requirements
Experience with RAMS, ITPs, inspections and quality records
Good commercial awareness
Ability to identify and communicate variations and cost risks
Strong leadership and communication skills
Practical problem-solving and decision-making ability
Confidence managing multiple priorities under pressure
Qualifications
Essential
Degree, HNC or HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Experience working for a main contractor on major projects
Demonstrable experience managing construction packages
Desirable
CSCS Black Card or equivalent manager-level card
Professional membership of an organisation such as CIOB or ICE

About You
This role will suit someone who takes ownership and remains close to the detail of project delivery.
You’ll need to be organised, visible on site and confident holding subcontractors accountable. You should be able to anticipate problems, coordinate multiple workstreams and make decisions without allowing issues to drift.
The successful candidate will be able to build productive relationships while maintaining clear expectations around programme, safety, quality and performance.
