Academics are recruiting for a Nursery Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Carpenders Park, Watford, supporting children from Reception through to Year 8.
The school supports pupils with a broad range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and complex learning needs.
Your experience working in EYFS and early childhood settings will be highly transferable. Skills such as developing communication, encouraging independence, supporting social development, managing routines and creating engaging activities are all incredibly valuable when working with children with SEN.
As a Nursery Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide nurturing, individualised support and help pupils engage with learning and develop their confidence.
Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Using your EYFS experience to support communication, social and emotional development
Helping children develop independence and confidence
Supporting learning through play-based and engaging activities
Providing a nurturing, patient and consistent approach
Supporting children with a range of SEN needs
Assisting with personal care where required
Working closely with teachers and other professionalsThis role would be particularly well suited to candidates with experience as a Nursery Nurse, Early Years Practitioner, EYFS Teaching Assistant, Childcare Practitioner or Nursery Teaching Assistant who are interested in developing a career within specialist education.
You don't need extensive SEN experience. The school is looking for someone who is patient, nurturing, enthusiastic and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Your understanding of child development, communication, behaviour, routines and individual needs will provide an excellent foundation for working within a specialist school.
