How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commercial Gas Engineer
    Location: Ipswich based office / sites across London & South East
    Salary: £48,000 - £54,000 DOE - Travel time paid OTE £70k+
    Hours: Monday-Friday (phone number removed) Call out rota
    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
    A well-established national building services contractor is looking to expand its project team with experienced Commercial Gas Engineers to work across major private and public sector projects.
    The business has grown into a national contractor over the last 10 years with a high volume of engineers on the road daily, offering services across the mechanical and electrical sector. With continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable business with genuine career progression.
    What You'll Be Doing
    * Carry out commercial gas and heating works across major private and public sector projects
    * Diagnose faults and take a practical, problem-solving approach to challenging jobs
    * Complete commercial gas activities both autonomously and as part of a project team
    * Work on commercial plumbing and heating systems
    * Read and interpret technical diagrams and project documentation
    * Organise and prioritise workload to meet project deadlines
    * Maintain strong customer service and communication throughout projects
    * Travel to various sites and stay away when required, with appropriate notice
    What We're Looking For
    * 2–3+ years' experience working on commercial heating systems
    * Current NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in plumbing or heating
    * Current Domestic & Commercial Gas qualifications – refresher training can be provided
    * Enhanced DBS clearance or ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check
    * Full clean manual UK driving licence – confidential discussions regarding points
    * Strong communication and customer service skills
    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    * Proactive and committed approach to Health & Safety
    Desirable
    * IPAF / PASMA
    * CSCS Card
    * Current F-Gas qualification
