How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - North London

An established independent construction consultancy in North London is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their close-knit professional team. Delivering cost consultancy services across residential, commercial and refurbishment-led projects, this is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys taking ownership of commissions and working directly with clients.

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage projects from early feasibility and cost planning through tendering, construction and final account. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will work closely with developers, architects, contractors and wider design teams, providing practical commercial advice while maintaining strong control of project budgets and contractual matters.

This role would suit a confident Senior Quantity Surveyor who prefers the autonomy and direct client exposure of an independent consultancy. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be trusted to lead projects, manage client expectations and contribute to the continued development of long-standing relationships. For a commercially capable Senior Quantity Surveyor, the position offers genuine scope to broaden responsibilities and progress within the business.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities:

Leading cost management commissions from feasibility through to final account

Preparing estimates, detailed cost plans and project budgets

Producing tender documentation and managing contractor procurement

Advising clients on procurement strategy and contractual matters

Managing valuations, variations, change control and payment recommendations

Preparing regular financial reports and project forecasts

Negotiating final accounts and resolving commercial issues

Attending client, design team and site meetings

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Candidate Requirements:

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline

Strong UK PQS or cost consultancy experience

MRICS qualified or actively progressing through the RICS APC

Good working knowledge of JCT contracts and UK procurement routes

Experience managing projects through both pre- and post-contract stages

Residential, commercial or refurbishment experience would be advantageous

Strong client-facing, commercial and organisational skills

Ability to independently manage multiple commissions

    In Return:

    £70,000 - £80,000 per annum

    North London Office Base

    High level of project autonomy

Direct exposure to clients and senior decision-makers

    Varied project workload

Strong long-term progression opportunities to Director
