How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Maintenance Engineer – Days & Nights

    Location: Leeming
    Salary: £47,500 – £50,000 per annum
    Shift: 4 on 4 off – Days & Nights
    Job Type: Permanent

Maintenance Engineers – This is an opportunity worth looking at!

Are you an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking for a well-paid 4 on 4 off role where you can make a genuine impact on machine reliability, downtime and continuous improvement?

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing operation at our Leeming site, working a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern.

You’ll play a key role in keeping production running safely and efficiently, carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown work, while identifying root causes and implementing improvements to prevent repeat failures.

    What's on offer?

    * £47,500 – £50,000 salary

    * 4 on 4 off shift pattern – Days & Nights

    * Permanent position

    * Excellent opportunity within a structured engineering environment

    * Opportunity to develop your technical skills

    * Work alongside an experienced Engineering team

    * Strong focus on reliability and continuous improvement

    The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining production equipment and ensuring the site's preventative maintenance programme is completed on time and right first time.

    You'll be involved in:

    * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), condition monitoring and equipment inspections.

    * Responding to machinery breakdowns and carrying out effective fault finding and diagnostics.

    * Identifying root causes of equipment failures and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

    * Carrying out improvements to plant and machinery using downtime and performance data.

    * Maintaining accurate engineering records, maintenance logs and PPM schedules.

    * Updating breakdown information through the site's MES system.

    * Working closely with the Stores team to ensure critical spare parts are available.

    * Ordering and managing spare parts in line with company procedures.

    * Maintaining a clean, organised engineering workshop in line with GMP and clean-as-you-go standards.

    * Providing accurate downtime updates and communicating follow-up actions.

    * Supporting continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve reliability, efficiency and equipment lifespan.

    * Working closely with Production and other departments to maintain operational standards.

    * Supporting and mentoring apprentices and other engineers where required.

    * Assisting the Site Services team when necessary.

    What We're Looking For

We're looking for an engineer who is hands-on, proactive and technically strong, with the ability to work calmly and methodically when production equipment breaks down.

    You'll ideally have:

Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing/production environment.

Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience.

Experience carrying out PPM and reactive breakdown maintenance.

    Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Experience with root-cause analysis and eliminating repeat failures.

A proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices.

Experience working with maintenance management systems/MES or CMMS.

    Good organisational and record-keeping skills.

The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

A strong understanding of the importance of production uptime and equipment reliability.

    Manufacturing / Food Experience

Experience within a food manufacturing, FMCG or GMP environment would be highly advantageous, particularly where you've worked with production machinery and understand the importance of hygiene, food safety and product quality.

    Your Impact

This isn't simply a role where you'll be fixing machines when they break.

You'll be expected to actively contribute towards:

    Reducing unplanned downtime year-on-year

    Improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

Increasing the percentage of planned versus reactive maintenance

    Eliminating repeat machinery failures

    Improving equipment reliability and lifespan

Maintaining excellent GMP, Health & Safety and engineering compliance

    The Person

We're looking for someone who takes ownership.

Someone who doesn't just reset a machine and walk away, but wants to understand why it failed, how it can be prevented from happening again and how the equipment can be made more reliable.

If you're an experienced Maintenance Engineer who enjoys problem-solving, continuous improvement and working in a fast-paced production environment, we'd like to hear from you.
