How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Graduate Teaching Assistant – Richmond, Immediate Start

A high-performing secondary school in Richmond is looking for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its staff immediately on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a strong opportunity for an academically accomplished graduate who wants meaningful classroom experience before progressing into teacher training. You will work alongside experienced teachers, supporting pupils across lessons, interventions and targeted academic support. Previous school experience is welcomed but not essential; academic strength, maturity and a genuine interest in education matter more. For an aspiring teacher, the role offers sustained experience of how pupils learn, how classrooms are managed and how strong teaching is developed.

The school has been graded Good/Outstanding by Ofsted and combines high academic expectations with a calm, purposeful approach to learning. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will see effective teaching at close quarters while developing your own confidence working with young people. Teachers will provide guidance on lesson support, intervention work and responding to different pupil needs, giving you experience that has genuine value when applying for teacher training. Graduates considering careers in educational psychology, SEN or child development would also gain relevant practical exposure. This is a school looking for someone with long-term potential rather than simply previous classroom experience.

    Key Highlights:

    * Graduate Teaching Assistant – academically focused secondary support role

    * Earn £95–£110 per day, depending on experience

    * Based in Richmond, South West London

    * Join a Good/Outstanding Ofsted-graded school

    * Secure a full-time, long-term position

    * Start immediately, with interviews taking place now

    * Gain sustained classroom experience before teacher training

    * Develop practical knowledge alongside experienced classroom teachers

    What You'll Be Doing:

    * Support pupils during lessons across the secondary curriculum, helping them understand tasks and remain engaged

    * Lead targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions where additional academic input is needed

    * Reinforce core concepts with pupils who need further explanation or greater challenge

    * Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation and learning materials

    * Monitor pupil understanding and feed useful observations back to teaching staff

    * Encourage strong study habits, independence and confidence among the pupils you work with

Ideal Candidate for this Richmond School:

    * Bring a strong academic background, ideally including a 2:1 or First-Class degree from a respected UK university

    * Demonstrate clear communication, sound judgement and the confidence to work with secondary-aged pupils

    * Consider a future career in teaching, educational psychology, SEN or child development

    * Show genuine interest in learning how effective classrooms and successful schools operate

    * Commit to a full-time, long-term Graduate Teaching Assistant position in Richmond

    * Offer previous tutoring, mentoring, youth work or school experience if you have it, although this is desirable rather than essential

    Why Join This Richmond School?

    * Observe effective classroom practice every day within a Good/Outstanding Ofsted-graded setting

    * Build substantial school-based experience before making the move into teacher training

    * Work directly with experienced teachers rather than being limited to administrative support

    * Access varied experience through classroom teaching, interventions and individual pupil support

    * Learn within a school where academic expectations and purposeful behaviour allow graduates to concentrate on developing their classroom skills

    * Establish the practical experience and references that can strengthen future teacher-training applications

    How to Apply:

Applications are being considered immediately for this Graduate Teaching Assistant vacancy, so candidates available to start now are encouraged to apply promptly. Submit your application and CV via this listing to be considered for interview.

For a graduate serious about becoming a teacher, a year spent inside a strong Richmond school can provide far more than an introduction to education. This Graduate Teaching Assistant role gives you the time, responsibility and classroom exposure to decide where your strengths lie and prepare properly for the next stage of your career
