How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Role: Project Manager
    Position: Contract
    Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset
    Duration: 12 Months Rolling
    Rate: Circa £375 p/d PAYE + 36 days annual leave // Circa £510 p/d Umbrella

    Job Purpose / Overview
    As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the effective management and delivery of an assigned contract or work package through the relevant stages of the project lifecycle. This will include coordinating engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities, where applicable, ensuring delivery is aligned with the overall project programme and meets the required standards for safety, quality, time and cost.
    Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will lead and coordinate activities within your assigned contract or work package, working collaboratively with technical, commercial, project controls and wider HPC teams to ensure successful delivery. You will proactively manage risks, issues, resources and performance, escalating matters where appropriate and ensuring contractual and project requirements are met.
    In collaboration with the Senior Project Manager, you will support the development and implementation of strategies aligned with the overall Programme Execution Plan (PEP), ensuring your area of responsibility is effectively managed, organised and delivered.

    Principal Accountabilities
    * Proactively anticipate, manage, and resolve issues within your contract or package, identifying risks, facilitating resolutions, and contributing to the development and update of the program budget. Escalate any issues to the Senior Project Manager when necessary.
    * Work alongside the Senior Project Manager to develop and maintain schedules for the contract or work package, ensuring alignment with overall Project schedules. Promptly escalate any discrepancies.
    * Interface with other programs to ensure a high-level view of the overall project's progress, identifying and adopting best practices.
    * Lead and support activities required to deliver the project and contract scope, working closely with the Senior Project Manager.
    * Liaise and interface with the other key teams within HPC on specific tasks which are required to support the task of delivery of the project and contract scope.
    * Develop, implement and support the effective use of project management systems, including planning, reporting and document control processes.
    * Participate in providing support to the Team regarding compliance with approved NNB procedures.
    * Participate in developing the relationships with key statutory stakeholders for the HPC project
    * Ensure the List of Deliverables (LOD) relating to the scope of work is delivered.
    * Apply the principles of Earned Value Management (EVM).
    * Apply the principles of Continuous Improvement.
    * Ensure that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual.
    * Ensure that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled
    * Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all project team members
    * Ensure that a full and auditable archive of project decisions is maintained to document the project evolution and history.
    * Support the project management functions of the technical work streams to help ensure they are completed on time and on budget, supporting the management of commercial and technical Work through all phases of the project.
    * Monitor and manage project costs, forecasts and financial performance within the delegated authority, working closely with Commercial and Project Controls.

    Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
    * Proven experience in project management, preferably within a complex engineering, construction or regulated environment.
    * Demonstrable experience of managing projects, contracts or work packages through the project lifecycle, from mobilisation or concept through to completion and handover.
    * Experience of managing project scope, programme, cost, risk, quality and resources, with the ability to identify issues and drive effective resolution.
    * Strong commercial awareness, including experience of budget management, forecasting and working with Commercial and Project Controls functions.
    * Strong understanding of project planning and controls, including programme development, progress monitoring, reporting and the application of Earned Value Management principles.
    * Experience of working within a highly regulated environment, with an understanding of the importance of quality assurance, compliance and controlled processes.
    * Knowledge and understanding of nuclear safety and the purpose of the Nuclear Safety Case, or demonstrable experience of working within a similarly safety-critical environment.
    * Understanding of nuclear quality requirements and the application of a graded approach to quality.
    * Knowledge of CDM Regulations and their application within a construction environment.
    * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
    * Ability to analyse complex information, identify key issues and make clear, evidence-based decisions.
    * Demonstrable ability to build effective working relationships and influence across multidisciplinary teams.
    * Professional qualification in Project Management, such as APM PPQ or an equivalent recognised qualification, is desirable.
