How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    My client is a World Leading, Tier 1 Construction Company.

    They are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join their Southwest Civils team, supporting the successful delivery and growth of their highways and civil engineering portfolio across the Bristol and Gloucester regions.

    This is a key leadership role focused on both winning and delivering projects through established framework agreements and competitive tenders. Working closely with our pre-construction, planning and operational teams, you will play a critical role in shaping project delivery strategies, securing new work, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

    The role will oversee multiple projects valued between £1 million and £15 million, managing delivery teams and ensuring successful outcomes for clients including local authorities and framework partners.

    Duties

    Lead the delivery of highways and civil engineering projects across the Bristol and Gloucester region.
    Manage and oversee up to three projects simultaneously, ensuring programme, quality, safety and commercial objectives are achieved.
    Support the business in securing new work through framework opportunities and competitive tender submissions.
    Work collaboratively with Pre-Construction and Planning teams to develop robust delivery strategies and project solutions.
    Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
    Provide leadership, direction and support to Project Managers and site-based teams.
    Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
    Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety,
    Environmental and Quality standards.
    Contribute to business growth by identifying opportunities within existing frameworks and new markets.
    Drive continuous improvement and ensure lessons learned are captured and shared across projects.Person Specification

    Proven experience operating at Contracts Manager level within the highways and civil engineering sector.
    Strong background in delivering infrastructure, highways or major civil engineering projects.
    Experience of managing multiple projects and leading operational delivery teams.
    Demonstrable experience working within framework agreements and competitive tender environments.
    Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance quality, programme and financial performance.
    Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
    Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the South West region.
    SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)Desirable

    Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
    Experience working on local authority highways frameworks.
    Knowledge of NEC contracts and collaborative delivery models.Benefits Package
