How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Health & Safety Advisor
    London & Southeast | Construction | Mon–Fri, 08:00–17:00
    Salary: £50000
We're recruiting for a Health & Safety Advisor to join the team across projects in London and the Southeast, reporting to the Project Health, Safety and Environmental Manager. You'll work closely alongside the Project Health and Safety Manager, building trusted relationships on site and helping to shape a genuinely positive safety culture.
This is a hands-on role covering everything from inductions and toolbox talks to audits, risk assessments and incident investigation — with real mentoring and development built in.
    What you'll be doing
    * Build strong rapport with teams on site and act as a trusted advisor, influencing positive safety culture.
    * Provide practical HSE support and advice across project activities.
    * Assist the Project Health and Safety Manager with the H&S induction for all employees and contractors on their first day.
    * Support and/or chair weekly Health and Safety meetings with the Project Health and Safety Manager.
    * Support the Project Health and Safety Manager with accident/incident investigation, evidence collation and record keeping.
    * Provide incentives and innovations to reduce Health and Safety risks.
    * Report any situations requiring immediate rectification or the stopping of an operation.
    * Assist in the development of risk assessments and safe working procedures.
    * Accompany the Health and Safety Manager on monthly H&S audits and third-party/external H&S visits.
    * Monitor Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure they remain in-date and that trades are briefed accordingly.
    * Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
    * Maintain accurate Health & Safety records and documentation.
    * Deliver and create toolbox talks on relevant Health and Safety topics.
    * Support the Project Health and Safety Manager with external audits by accreditation bodies or clients.
    * Assist with 3-monthly spill kit drills and 3-monthly fire drills.
    * Carry out PPE spot checks on site to ensure compliance across the site team.
    * Assist in the review of documentation such as the CPP, Site Fire Safety Plan and First Aid Risk Assessment.
    * Carry out regular reviews of the InnDex system to ensure compliance across contractors.
    * Deputise for the Project Health and Safety Manager during absence or leave, carrying out the duties outlined above.
    What you'll need
    * NEBOSH Diploma or NEBOSH General Certificate.
    * IOSH Managing Safely in Construction.
    * 3-Day First Aider.
    * Previous construction industry experience.
    What we can offer
    * Mentoring and support from an experienced Health & Safety Manager.
    * The opportunity to influence and develop the company's Health & Safety culture.
    * Facilitated formal training and mentoring to support you in the role, kept current with statutory obligations.
