How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    1:2 Teaching Assistant - Year 2

    Location: Druids Heath, Birmingham
    Role: 1:2 Teaching Assistant
    Year Group: Year 2
    Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing for at least the Academic Year
    Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday

Aspire People are currently recruiting for a patient, nurturing and resilient Teaching Assistant to provide 1:2 support for two Year 2 boys at a welcoming primary school in Druids Heath.

Both pupils are currently suspected of having ADHD and require additional support with focus, attention, engagement and following adult direction. One of the pupils also has a tendency to abscond from the classroom or learning environment, meaning the successful candidate will need to be vigilant, proactive and confident in maintaining the child's safety while encouraging positive engagement.

The school is looking for someone who can build strong, trusting relationships with both pupils and understand that their behaviour may be a form of communication. The boys can be unresponsive to direction, so the successful candidate will need to demonstrate patience, consistency and a nurturing approach, while also maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries.

The role will involve supporting both pupils to remain focused during lessons, encouraging them to participate in learning and helping them develop strategies to manage their attention and behaviour. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to ensure both children receive consistent support and are able to make positive progress.

    The successful candidate will:
Have previous experience working with children in a primary school or SEND setting.
Ideally have experience supporting children with ADHD, SEMH or behavioural needs.
Be confident supporting pupils who may struggle with attention, focus and following instructions.
Be able to remain calm and patient when faced with challenging or unpredictable behaviour.
Be vigilant and proactive when supporting a child with a tendency to abscond.
Have a kind, nurturing and understanding personality, while being confident in setting clear boundaries.
Be consistent in their approach and able to build positive relationships with children who may initially be reluctant to engage.
Have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively alongside teachers and other support staff.
Be passionate about helping children develop their confidence, independence and ability to engage positively with learning.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who enjoys working closely with children who need additional support and who can see beyond challenging behaviour to understand the individual child's needs. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping both pupils develop their focus, engagement and confidence within the classroom.

The role is available to start ASAP and is expected to continue for at least the full academic year, providing a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a stable, long-term placement.

If you are a patient, nurturing and resilient Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, Aspire People would love to hear from you!

Aspire People Limited provides services as an Education Agency and an Education Employment Business. Aspire People is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils and expects every candidate to share this commitment. Placements are subject, to appropriate Child Protection screening, including checks with former employers and the Disclosure and Barring Checks
