How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Maintenance Surveyor

    Location: South London - covering Penge and surrounding areas
    Rate: £45 per hour
    Contract: Temporary - Ongoing
    Sector: Social Housing / Property Services

    Daniel Owen are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Surveyor to join a busy property services team, covering Penge and the surrounding South London areas.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and knowledgeable Surveyor with experience within social housing, property maintenance or responsive repairs.

    The Role

    As a Maintenance Surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out property inspections and surveys, identifying maintenance requirements and ensuring works are appropriately specified and progressed.

    Key responsibilities:

    Carrying out property inspections and maintenance surveys across Penge and surrounding areas.
    Identifying defects and determining appropriate remedial works.
    Raising and managing repair and maintenance works.
    Preparing specifications and schedules of work where required.
    Monitoring contractors and ensuring works are completed to the required standard.
    Investigating and reporting on property defects.
    Liaising with residents, contractors and internal teams.
    Ensuring works are completed within agreed timescales and budgets.
    Maintaining accurate records and providing reports as required.
    Ensuring all works comply with relevant health & safety, housing and building regulations.

    About You

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    Previous experience working as a Maintenance Surveyor, Repairs Surveyor or Building Surveyor within social housing or property maintenance.
    Strong knowledge of responsive repairs and property maintenance.
    Experience diagnosing building defects and specifying remedial works.
    Excellent communication and organisational skills.
    The ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively.
    A professional and customer-focused approach.
    A full UK driving licence is desirable due to the mobile nature of the role
