How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineering Lecturer looking to step into a management role?

Do you want to take the next step in your education career, leading curriculum delivery, supporting staff, and helping shape the future of Mechanical Engineering provision?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established College in a first-line management role within the Engineering department. Working closely with the Head of School, you'll support curriculum coordination, programme management, quality improvement and staff development across the Mechanical Engineering section.

As Section Manager for Mechanical Engineering, you'll teach around 16 hours per week while also supporting the wider management of the curriculum. You'll help coordinate programmes, manage timetables, support teaching quality, analyse performance data, and ensure learners achieve strong outcomes across a range of Mechanical Engineering courses.

The role will involve working across a broad Engineering portfolio, including Level 1 Engineering, BTEC Engineering, T Levels, HNC and HND Mechanical Engineering programmes. You'll play a key role in maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and assessment while helping develop provision that reflects the needs of local industry.

The ideal candidate will have successful Mechanical Engineering teaching experience, strong FE programme knowledge and a minimum Level 6 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. You should also hold a Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector. This could suit an experienced lecturer looking to step into management, providing you can demonstrate curriculum coordination, leadership, quality improvement or programme development experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Mechanical Engineering education professional to progress into a management role, support a strong curriculum area, and develop further within a large and supportive College environment.

    The role:

    *Section Manager for Mechanical Engineering.
    *Based at the Uxbridge campus.
*Full-time permanent position, 36 hours per week.
*Teach around 16 hours per week across the Mechanical Engineering portfolio.

*Work across programmes including Level 1 Engineering, BTEC Engineering, T Levels, HNC and HND Mechanical Engineering.
*Assist the Head of School with staff supervision, support and development.
*Lead on quality improvement, teaching standards and learner outcomes.
*Support recruitment, retention, achievement and progression across the section.
*Build and maintain effective relationships with employers and industry partners.
*Excellent package including Teachers' Pension, 37 days holiday, bank holidays, Christmas closure and wider staff benefits.

    The person:

*Minimum Level 6 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
*Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector.
*Successful teaching experience within Mechanical Engineering.
*Strong knowledge of Further Education programmes.
    *Mechanical Engineering industry experience.
*Curriculum coordination, management or development experience.
    *Leadership or supervisory experience desirable.
*Experience improving teaching, learning and assessment.
*Strong communication, organisation and team-management skills.
*Confident supporting staff, learners and curriculum quality.
    *Good IT and administrative skills.
*Motivated to step into management and support the ongoing development of the department.
