Purpose of the Role
This is a high impact role within a small, expert Treasury team based in Leeds. The Treasury Manager will take ownership of key risk management responsibilities - principally Counterparty Credit Risk and Liquidity Risk - across a very significant portfolio of client cash. As part of a small team, the role carries real breadth: the successful candidate will be expected to act as Treasury Dealer when required, placing deposits and managing activity within policy and regulatory limits, as well as undertaking rigorous analytical and forecasting work.
The role also demands the confidence to communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, including executive directors, and when required deputise for the Head of Treasury.
This is an exciting time to join: the team has recently implemented FIS Integrity as its Treasury Management System and is actively developing the use of AI tooling to enhance Treasury operations. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to both strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Management
Own and maintain the framework for Counterparty Credit Risk and Liquidity Risk across the client cash portfolio
Design, run, and interpret risk analysis and scenario modelling (stress tests, sensitivity analyses, what-if scenarios)
Perform cashflow forecasting to support liquidity risk management, identifying and escalating potential pressures proactively
Monitor risk exposures against internal risk appetite and escalate where appropriate
Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the drivers of both counterparty credit and liquidity riskTreasury Dealing
Act as Treasury Dealer when required, ensuring continuity of dealing capability within the small team
Place deposits with approved counterparties in line with internal policy, risk appetite, and regulatory limits
Manage dealing activity within CASS and MIFIDPRU requirements, maintaining accurate records and audit trails
Exercise sound judgement in execution, operating confidently within a framework of policy and regulatory constraintsStakeholder Communication & Reporting
Produce clear, concise, and well-structured analysis for senior stakeholders
Present Treasury analysis, risk assessments, forecasts, and recommendations to colleagues and, where relevant, directly to executive directors
Translate complex Treasury matters into accessible insight for non-specialist audiences when requiredRegulatory Compliance
Support Treasury activities to operate within CASS (Client Asset Sourcebook) and MIFIDPRU requirements
Prepare and maintain regulatory reporting, documentation, and controls in line with FCA requirements
Build knowledge of the regulatory environment affecting Treasury activities, with support from the wider teamInterest Forecasting
Lead the forecasting of interest receivable, including model development, assumption setting, and variance analysis
Collaborate with Finance and FP&A to integrate Treasury forecasts into the wider business planning cycle
Provide clear, well-structured reporting on forecast vs actual performanceFIS Integrity - Treasury Management System
Champion the adoption and optimisation of FIS Integrity, our recently implemented Treasury Management System
Identify and deliver opportunities to maximise FIS Integrity's capability across risk monitoring, reporting, and operational workflows
Act as a key internal subject matter expert for the system, supporting process improvement and future developmentAI & Innovation
Support the development and implementation of AI tools to enhance Treasury analysis, reporting, and risk management
Bring intellectual curiosity and a practical mindset to identifying where automation and AI can add the most value within the Treasury functionGrowth & Project Support
Provide Treasury input and analysis to support business growth initiatives and strategic projects as required
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Finance, Risk, and Operations teamsRequirements
Skills & Experience - Essential
Proven Treasury experience
Demonstrable experience in managing Treasury risks, including Counterparty Credit Risk and/or Liquidity Risk
Experience of cashflow forecasting in a Treasury context
Experience of placing deposits and undertaking Treasury dealing activity, managed within policy and regulatory limits if applicable
Strong mathematical and analytical skills - ability to build and run models and scenarios
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including financial modelling, scenario tools, and data manipulation)
Experience of interest income forecasting or similar financial forecasting
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex analysis clearly and confidently to a range of stakeholders
Experience of presenting analysis or recommendations in a structured way to senior stakeholders
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Willingness to cover the full range of team responsibilities, including dealing, when requiredSkills & Experience - Desirable
A relevant financial or Treasury qualification, such as the ACT Certificate or Diploma in Treasury Management, CFA, AMCT, or equivalent experience gained within a Treasury function
Knowledge of, or experience working within, CASS and MIFIDPRU regulatory requirements
Experience working with FIS Integrity or a comparable Treasury Management System
Familiarity with AI or data science tools (e.g. Python, Power BI, or equivalent) applied to finance or risk
Experience working at a retail investment platform, wealth manager, or similar consumer finance business
Experience supporting strategic or growth projects from a Treasury or Finance perspective
