How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Secondary Supply Teacher

    Location: Chelmsford, Essex and Surrounding Areas
    Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time, Daily Supply, Short-Term & Long-Term Opportunities
    Salary: £140-£160 per day

    Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teacher looking for flexible teaching opportunities in Chelmsford? We are seeking passionate Secondary Supply Teachers to support a range of welcoming and well-established secondary schools across Chelmsford and the surrounding areas.

    We welcome applications from experienced teachers, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and teachers returning to the profession. Opportunities are available across a wide range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Geography, History, Modern Foreign Languages, Computing, PE, Design Technology, Art, Music and Business Studies.

    The Role

    As a Secondary Supply Teacher, you will provide high-quality teaching and ensure continuity of learning during staff absences. You will quickly adapt to different school environments, delivering engaging lessons while maintaining high expectations for behaviour and achievement.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Delivering pre-planned lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 where appropriate.
    Teaching within your subject specialism or providing general classroom cover.
    Maintaining a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
    Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with each school's behaviour policy.
    Encouraging student participation and supporting positive learning outcomes.
    Providing feedback to permanent teaching staff following lessons.
    Building positive relationships with students, colleagues and school leadership teams.
    Adhering to all safeguarding and child protection procedures.

    You will work across a variety of secondary schools in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas, including:

    Comprehensive secondary schools.
    Academies and multi-academy trusts.
    High-performing schools and schools on improvement journeys.
    Schools with strong pastoral support and positive learning environments.
    Settings offering a broad and balanced curriculum.Assignments range from daily supply bookings to long-term placements, with opportunities to secure permanent roles where appropriate.

    What We're Looking For

    Successful candidates will have:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
    Experience teaching within UK secondary schools.
    Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
    Strong communication and organisational abilities.
    The flexibility and confidence to adapt to different school settings.
    A genuine passion for supporting young people's education and development.Applications are encouraged from:

    Essential Requirements
