How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Secondary Supply Teacher

    Location: Colchester and Surrounding Areas, Essex
    Job Type: Flexible Supply - Daily, Short-Term & Long-Term Opportunities
    Salary: £140-£160 per day

    Whether you specialise in English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Modern Foreign Languages, PE, Computing, Arts or another secondary subject, we have opportunities to suit your experience and availability. We welcome applications from experienced teachers, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), and educators returning to the profession.

    The Role

    As a Secondary Supply Teacher, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning during staff absences. You will deliver engaging lessons, manage classroom behaviour effectively and create a positive learning environment that supports student achievement.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Delivering pre-planned lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
    Teaching your specialist subject or providing general classroom cover when required.
    Creating a positive, inclusive and productive learning environment.
    Managing behaviour in line with each school's behaviour policy.
    Encouraging student engagement and promoting high expectations.
    Assessing learning where required and providing clear feedback to teaching staff.
    Building positive relationships with students, colleagues and school leaders.
    Following safeguarding, child protection and school policies at all times.

    We're Looking For

    We are seeking teachers who:

    Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
    Have experience teaching within UK secondary schools.
    Are confident delivering engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
    Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
    Are flexible, reliable and able to adapt quickly to new school environments.
    Demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills.
    Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.Applications are welcomed from:

    Essential Requirements
