How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Administrator / Planner to join a busy and fast-paced transport operation based in Basildon.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience within transport, logistics, distribution or fleet administration who enjoys working closely with drivers and supporting the smooth running of daily deliveries.

You will work alongside the Operations Manager, providing day-to-day administrative and operational support. The Operations Manager will remain responsible for the main planning and routing of delivery rounds; however, you will be expected to assist with transport coordination and be able to route deliveries when covering their absence.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Act as a main point of contact for drivers throughout the working day.

    *

Provide drivers with the information and paperwork required to complete deliveries.

    *

Monitor driver progress and report delays, breakdowns, absences or delivery problems.

    *

Process completed delivery paperwork, PODs and other driver documentation.

    *

Record failed deliveries, customer issues and requests for redelivery.

    *

Liaise with office teams regarding delivery queries, customer requirements and changes to scheduled work.

    *

Maintain accurate driver, vehicle and transport records.

    *

Assist with vehicle servicing, MOTs, repairs, breakdowns and replacement vehicle arrangements.

    *

Ensure daily and weekly vehicle inspections are completed and any defects are reported.

    *

Assist with monitoring driver and vehicle compliance.

    *

Monitor delivery volumes, driver working hours and completion of scheduled work.

    *

Support with accident, vehicle damage and insurance administration.

    *

Work closely with the Operations Manager to resolve day-to-day transport issues.

    *

Assist with route planning and organise delivery routes when covering the Operations Manager's absence.

    *

Carry out general administration connected with the transport operation.

    Skills & Experience

Previous experience within transport, logistics, distribution, administration or transport planning would be highly beneficial.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

    *

    Strong organisational and administrative skills.

    *

Experience communicating with drivers, customers and internal teams.

    *

The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy transport environment.

    *

Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.

    *

Confidence using computer systems, email and spreadsheets.

    *

The ability to identify problems and escalate issues quickly.

    *

A practical, positive and hands-on approach.

    *

Knowledge of vehicle compliance and drivers' hours would be advantageous but is not essential.

    About You

We are looking for someone who is:

    *

    Reliable and well organised.

    *

    Confident and approachable.

    *

Comfortable dealing with drivers on a daily basis.

    *

Able to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.

    *

Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change.

    *

A strong team player who is happy to support the Operations Manager and wider operation.

This role would suit someone currently working as a Transport Administrator, Transport Coordinator, Logistics Administrator, Fleet Administrator or Junior Transport Planner.
