How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Company Description London Ladies' Childfree by Choice is a London-based community for individuals intentionally building full, meaningful lives beyond the expectation of motherhood. The group brings together people who have chosen a childfree path and seek thoughtful connection, friendship, and conversation with others sharing similar experiences. Through regular gatherings and events across the city, the community offers space for authentic relationships and open dialogue. Members support one another in designing self-defined, fulfilling paths, with a focus on respect, inclusion, and mutual understanding. More information about the community: https://www.childfreebychoice.london

    Role Description

London Ladies’ Childfree by Choice is looking for a Volunteer Community Lead to work closely with the Founder in helping lead and care for a growing private membership community for childfree women in London.

This is not primarily an event-planning or social-media role. The operational side of the community is already well established. We're looking for someone who is particularly strong on the people side of community building: someone thoughtful, dependable and emotionally intelligent who can help members feel welcomed and connected while also helping maintain the standards and culture that make the group work.

The Community Lead will gradually become a trusted second point of contact for members and event hosts, sharing responsibility for the day-to-day member experience and helping ensure that the community remains warm, active, respectful and participation-focused as it grows.

    Responsibilities may include:

    • Welcoming new members and helping them settle into the community
    • Checking in with members and encouraging meaningful participation
    • Helping manage Meetup, WhatsApp and member communications
    • Responding to routine member questions and concerns
    • Supporting event hosts before and after gatherings
    • Helping identify and resolve minor member issues before they become larger problems
    • Communicating community guidelines and expectations clearly and thoughtfully
    • Supporting the Founder with participation, attendance and membership follow-up
    • Helping assess member fit and contributing to membership decisions when appropriate
    • Gathering feedback and noticing patterns in what members need or enjoy
    • Helping strengthen connections between members rather than simply increasing the number of events
    • Acting as a calm, trusted leadership presence within the community
    • Contributing ideas about how the community can continue to develop without losing its sense of intimacy and continuity

    Who We're Looking For

You do not need previous professional community-management experience.

We're much more interested in someone with excellent judgement, warmth, reliability and interpersonal awareness — someone who notices what is happening in a room, communicates well in writing, follows through on commitments, and can handle the occasional sensitive conversation calmly and fairly.

You should be comfortable being friendly and approachable while also understanding that strong communities sometimes require boundaries, consistency and difficult decisions.

This could be particularly valuable for someone interested in gaining practical experience in community building, member experience, membership organisations, events, hospitality, communications or community operations.

    Practical Details

This is an unpaid volunteer leadership role based in London, with a mixture of remote work and occasional in-person involvement at community events. It would be a particularly strong opportunity for someone looking to build their CV with meaningful, hands-on experience in community building, member experience, communications and leadership.

The role is very flexible rather than full-time, but we are looking for someone who wants to become genuinely involved in the community and take meaningful ownership of part of its day-to-day leadership.

As this is a leadership position within a women-only membership community with the common thread of shared values around women's reproductive freedom, the role is only open to women.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands that the goal is not simply to run events. It is to help create the conditions in which women repeatedly see the same people, build trust over time, and form real friendships.

    Qualifications

    • Strong interpersonal skills and communication abilities to build trust, facilitate conversations, and interact thoughtfully with diverse community members.
    • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and community management, including organizing events or groups and fostering participation.
    • Background in customer service or member support, with a focus on empathy, active listening, and conflict resolution when needed.
    • Ability to plan, coordinate, and promote events, including basic organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
    • Comfort leading in-person gatherings, speaking to groups, and creating welcoming, inclusive spaces for people with varied perspectives.
    • Familiarity with London venues and local transport options, and the ability to work on-site across different locations in the city.
    • Commitment to the values of autonomy, respect for childfree choices, and non-discriminatory, intersectional community-building.
    • Previous experience in grassroots organizing, peer support, or volunteer leadership is beneficial but not required.
