How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

As the global hub for the network of Jane Goodall Institutes, we bring Dr. Jane Goodall’s vision of hope to life by protecting wildlife, restoring habitats, and inspiring young changemakers. Recognising that sustainable support of the JGI network and the JGI Global entity are key to carrying on the work of the Jane Goodall Institutes, we seek someone passionate about protecting wildlife, empowering young people, and building a more sustainable future. This role offers the chance to shape fundraising and strengthen sustainability for the entire network.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

Working closely with the Global Manager and fundraising advisor from the Board of Trustees, you will lead fundraising and development to support long term organisational sustainability. This role suits someone who can think strategically while bringing energy, initiative, and a willingness to be hands-on to drive future growth. This is a temporary, one-year position.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Research & pipeline (primary focus):

    •     Own the prospect research process: identify, qualify, and prioritise new funding opportunities across foundations, trusts, corporates, and major donors

    •     Maintain and continuously develop a prospect pipeline and funder database, tracking deadlines, priorities, and alignment with JGIG’s programmes

    •     Develop and initiate a stewardship plan for secured donors

    Proposal support (secondary focus):

    •     Contribute to the development of the fundraising strategy, drawing on research findings and pipeline insights

    •     Support the preparation of funding proposals and expressions of interest, tailored to individual funder priorities

    Communications support (secondary focus):

    -       Provide input and advice on communications to support fundraising, and providing updates for our communications

    CANDIDATE PROFILE

    •     3–5 years of experience in fundraising and development research in the non-profit or NGO sector, with proven track record of success, ideally both within the UK and other countries too.

    •     Strong research and analytical skills; able to identify and assess funding opportunities and synthesise complex information quickly

    •     Experience with proposal writing

    •     Excellent written English; additional European languages welcome

    •     Comfortable working remotely and independently in a small, mission-driven team

    •     Genuine interest in conservation, environment, or related causes

    FURTHER INFORMATION

    FTE: Preference is for 70% - 80% part-time role.

Salary (gross): £35,000 - £45,000 per annum dependent on experience and agreed hours per week. We are open to creating a temporary staff position with payroll and pension benefits or contracting on a freelance basis.

Interested candidates please send a detailed CV and expression of interest to: mail@janegoodall.global

Deadline for expressions of interest: September 18, 2026
