How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Working on a large-scale 350MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development, you will be responsible for the commercial management of a significant civils package valued at approximately £18 million.

This is a fully site-based position and requires someone who is comfortable working closely with the project delivery team, principal contractor, subcontractors and client representatives on a daily basis.

The successful candidate will have a strong civil engineering background and demonstrable experience administering NEC3 or NEC4 contracts, ideally on major infrastructure, energy, utilities, substation, renewables or BESS projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review and negotiation of subcontract terms and conditions.
    • Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities.
    • Supporting the project team with contractual advice and commercial guidance.
    • Assessment and agreement of applications for payment.
    • Forecasting project outturn costs and monitoring profitability.
    • Management of procurement activities and subcontract package commercial performance.
    • Supporting dispute avoidance and resolution where required.
    • Maintaining accurate commercial records and audit trails.
    • Working closely with site management teams to ensure commercial decisions align with project delivery objectives.

    • Experience managing compensation events, variations and change management processes under NEC contracts.
    • Previous experience producing CVRs, forecasting and commercial reporting.
    • Experience managing subcontract accounts from procurement to final account.
    • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
    • Ability to work independently on site and support operational teams.
    • Full UK Driving Licence and ability to commute to site daily.
    • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline preferred.

    Desirable

    • Previous BESS, HV, Substation, Power, Utilities or Renewable Energy project experience.
