How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Head of SEO & Organic Growth

Manchester | Hybrid – 3 days in the office

RJA is partnering with a major consumer brand to appoint a Head of SEO & Organic Growth.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of organic growth within a competitive, fast-moving digital business.

You’ll lead the strategy, develop a talented team and ensure SEO becomes a meaningful driver of customer acquisition, engagement and revenue.

This isn’t a role focused simply on rankings and traffic. Our client needs a commercially minded SEO leader who can connect technical performance, content, customer intent and conversion—and demonstrate the impact organic search is having on the wider business.

    The opportunity

Reporting into the senior digital marketing leadership team, you’ll set the vision and roadmap for organic growth across multiple products and priority markets.

You’ll inherit an established team of SEO specialists and content professionals, giving you the platform to shape standards, develop capability and build a high-performing organic growth function.

Working closely with Product, Technology, UX, Content and Performance Marketing, you’ll ensure SEO is considered from the beginning of the customer journey—not added as an afterthought.

    What you’ll be responsible for

    • Owning and evolving the organisation’s SEO and organic growth strategy.
    • Increasing qualified organic traffic, customer acquisition and revenue.
    • Leading, coaching and developing a team of SEO and content specialists.
    • Setting the direction across technical, on-page and off-page SEO.
    • Building content strategies around customer demand, commercial priorities and brand positioning.
    • Identifying opportunities to improve site architecture, crawlability, indexation, internal linking and page performance.
    • Connecting SEO, content, UX and conversion activity to improve the quality and value of organic traffic.
    • Influencing Product and Technology roadmaps to secure delivery of important SEO initiatives.
    • Working with paid-search teams to improve overall search coverage and identify efficiencies.
    • Managing relationships with agencies, partners and internal stakeholders.
    • Monitoring competitors, search trends and algorithm changes to protect and grow performance.
    • Managing budgets and ensuring investment delivers a clear return.
    • Providing senior leaders with clear reporting on performance, priorities, risks and opportunities.
    • Maintaining strong governance and ensuring activity meets relevant compliance requirements.

    What we’re looking for

You’ll be an experienced SEO leader who combines technical credibility with strong commercial judgement.

You should be able to demonstrate:

    • Significant experience delivering SEO and organic growth strategies in a complex digital environment.
    • Strong technical SEO knowledge, including site architecture, Core Web Vitals, page speed, schema, internal linking and indexation.
    • Experience translating search visibility and traffic into acquisition, conversion and revenue.
    • A record of competing successfully for valuable, highly contested search terms.
    • Leadership experience with the ability to coach specialists, set high standards and create accountability.
    • Strong working knowledge of GA4, Google Search Console and recognised SEO platforms.
    • Experience influencing Product, Technology, UX, Content and Performance Marketing teams.
    • The ability to turn complex performance data into clear commercial recommendations.
    • Confidence presenting strategies, results and investment cases to senior stakeholders.
    • Experience managing budgets, resources and competing priorities.

Experience within a regulated industry would be preferred, particularly where customer acquisition, compliance and intense search competition are important. However, we are also interested in accomplished SEO leaders from other complex, high-volume digital businesses.

    Why consider this opportunity?

This role offers genuine ownership. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the organic growth agenda, lead an established team and influence decisions across the wider organisation.

To discuss the opportunity and client in more detail, please apply or contact the RJA team for a confidential conversation.
