NIGHT VETERINARY SURGEON – ECC
Location: North West England, Merseyside
Salary: £60,000–£85,000 pro rata, plus bonus
Rota: 7 nights on, 14 nights off
Hours: 7:30pm–8:30am
Contract: 0.75 FTE, averaging 31–33 hours per week
THE OPPORTUNITY
An established independent veterinary hospital in North West England is seeking an experienced Night Veterinary Surgeon to join its dedicated out-of-hours team.
You’ll manage a varied emergency and critical care caseload while overseeing hospitalised patients from both first-opinion and referral services.
You’ll work alongside an experienced Night RVN, with support available from the wider referral team when required.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident ECC vet who wants advanced facilities, clinical autonomy and the support of an independently owned hospital.
FACILITIES
You’ll have access to an excellent range of diagnostic and clinical equipment, including:
• CT
• Endoscopy
• Ultrasound
• Comprehensive in-house laboratory
• Infusion pumps and syringe drivers
• On-site blood products
• Referral-level facilities and clinical support
THE ROLE
Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing emergency and critical care cases
• Providing overnight care for hospitalised patients
• Triaging, assessing and admitting emergency presentations
• Supporting ongoing referral cases overnight
• Communicating clearly with clients and the daytime clinical teams
• Maintaining accurate and thorough clinical records
• Working closely with an experienced Night RVN
The successful candidate should be confident managing cases such as GDV, haemoabdomen, pleural effusion and DKA independently.
