How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    DESIGNER - Fire Stopping & Compartmentation experience

    Reports to: Contract Manager

    Location: London | Projects across London & Southeast

    Salary: £60,000–£70,000 DOE

    Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm


    The Role


    A S Ramsay Group is looking for an experienced Designer with Fire Stopping & Compartmentation experience to join our London team.

    You will provide technical design support across Fire Stopping & Compartmentation projects, producing compliant and buildable solutions from design through to project completion.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Produce and coordinate detailed 2D/3D technical drawings and construction details.
    • Develop and review fire stopping, compartmentation, cavity barrier and penetration seal details.
    • Coordinate designs with architectural, structural and M&E information.
    • Review fire strategies, compartmentation surveys and existing building information.
    • Ensure designs comply with UK Building Regulations, Approved Document B, relevant British Standards and manufacturer requirements.
    • Liaise with Contract Managers, site teams, consultants, manufacturers and subcontractors.
    • Provide technical support during construction and assist with resolving design/site issues.
    • Attend site and design meetings where required.
    • Maintain design records, drawing revisions and as-built information.


    Essential Requirements


    • Previous Fire Stopping & Compartmentation experience is essential.
    • Experience within façade, cladding or building-envelope design.
    • Strong AutoCAD skills and experience producing detailed construction drawings.
    • Good knowledge of passive fire protection, cavity barriers and penetration sealing.
    • Ability to interpret fire strategies, architectural, structural and M&E drawings.
    • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and fire-safety requirements.
