How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Applications Engineer

AV Industrial Products Ltd – Wigston, Leicester

    Overview

Established in 1990, AV Industrial Products Ltd is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of anti-vibration mountings and rubber engineering components.

Due to our continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Applications Engineer to join our established engineering team. This is a varied, customer-focused position combining mechanical engineering, product application and new product development.

    About the role

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Providing technical support and product recommendations to OEM customers.

    * Reviewing customer enquiries and preparing quotations, technical proposals and product information.

    * Ensuring enquiries are handled promptly, accurately and with a strong focus on customer service.

    * Selecting anti-vibration mountings and rubber engineering components for a wide range of industrial applications.

    * Working with customers, suppliers and manufacturing partners to develop new and bespoke products.

    * Preparing and reviewing engineering drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

    * Carrying out engineering calculations and analysis using ANSYS and specialist vibration engineering software.

    * Supporting vibration investigations, including FFT vibration measurements.

    * Working closely with our internal applications engineers and field-based technical sales team.

    What we are looking for

    * A mechanically biased engineer qualified to a minimum of HNC level, or someone with equivalent industry experience.

    * A practical understanding of mechanical engineering principles.

    * Strong IT skills and confidence using digital business and engineering systems.

    * Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks or ANSYS would be advantageous, although training can be provided.

    * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    * A customer-focused approach with strong attention to detail.

    * The ability to manage technical enquiries efficiently and work effectively as part of a team.

    * Experience within the rubber, polymer, vibration-control or mechanical components industry would be particularly beneficial, but it is not essential.

The position may suit an enthusiastic mechanical engineer, applications engineer or polymer technician who would like to develop a career combining engineering with customer and commercial responsibilities.
