How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Direct Buyer – Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing

    Oxford | 4 Days On-Site | Up to £50,000 + Share Options

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Direct Buyer to join one of the UK's fastest-growing technology businesses at a pivotal stage of its journey.

The company is developing cutting-edge robotics and automation technology and has ambitious plans to triple in size over the next year. Procurement and supply chain will be critical to making that happen, creating an opportunity to take real ownership, work closely with highly technical teams and progress quickly as the organisation scales.

    The Role

    • Managing direct procurement of components and materials used within advanced robotic systems
    • Ensuring sufficient stock and supplier capacity to support an extremely ambitious production ramp-up
    • Identifying, evaluating and developing high-quality suppliers capable of supporting rapid growth
    • Managing supplier performance, lead times, pricing and continuity of supply
    • Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams in a fast-paced, high-tech environment

    What They're Looking For

    • Direct procurement / buying experience within manufacturing, engineering, electronics, automotive, robotics or another technical environment
    • Strong supplier management, sourcing and negotiation capability
    • Experience working with components, materials or technical products
    • Commercially minded, proactive and comfortable operating at pace
    • An ambitious individual excited by the opportunity to grow alongside a rapidly scaling business

For someone who wants to move away from a traditional corporate procurement environment, this offers something very different: incredibly high-tech products, rapid growth, significant ownership and share options that allow you to participate in the company's future success. As the business triples in size, there should be significant opportunities for your role to grow with it.
