How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Bid Writer – Construction

We’re working with an established and growing construction business to recruit an experienced Bid Writer to join their team.

The business delivers a range of new build, refurbishment, commercial, industrial, healthcare, education and housing projects, alongside civils and wider construction services. They’re continuing to grow their workload and are looking for someone who can play a key role in securing new work and supporting the wider pre-construction team.

    The Role

You’ll be responsible for producing high-quality, competitive tender submissions from initial PQQs and expressions of interest through to full ITTs.

You’ll work closely with the Estimating, Commercial, Pre-Construction and Operations teams to pull together strong technical and commercial responses that demonstrate the company’s experience, capability and added value.

    Key responsibilities

    • Writing and coordinating high-quality PQQ, SQ and tender submissions
    • Reviewing tender documents and identifying key requirements, risks and opportunities
    • Working with Estimators, Surveyors, Design and Construction teams to gather project information
    • Developing clear and compelling responses around methodology, programme, quality, H&S, sustainability and social value
    • Taking technical information and turning it into clear, client-focused written responses
    • Coordinating input from internal teams and ensuring submissions are accurate and compliant
    • Managing tender deadlines and multiple submissions at the same time
    • Maintaining and developing bid content, case studies, CVs and company information
    • Carrying out research into clients, projects and procurement opportunities
    • Supporting the wider pre-construction/business development team where required
    • Continually looking for ways to improve the quality and effectiveness of submissions

    You'll need:

    • Previous Bid Writing / Tender Writing experience within construction
    • A good understanding of construction terminology and project delivery
    • Experience working on PQQs, SQs and ITTs
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • The ability to take technical information and turn it into engaging bid responses
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Good organisation skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines
    • Confidence working with Estimating, Commercial, Operations and Pre-Construction teams
    • The ability to manage several bids and deadlines at the same time
    • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel

Experience of framework bids, public sector tenders, social value, sustainability and quality submissions would be an advantage.

    What's on offer?

This is a great opportunity to join an established construction business with a strong and varied project pipeline, where you'll have the opportunity to take real ownership of the bid process and have a direct impact on winning new work.

You'll be joining a business with a strong focus on quality, collaboration and long-term client relationships, with projects across a number of sectors. The company has also recently achieved Constructionline Platinum status, reflecting the strength of its processes, compliance and overall business standards.
