How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Full Time Salary: £34,800 per year
    Hours: Part time or full time - 30 to 37 hours per week available

    Southdown is one of the leading providers of housing, care, and support services in Sussex. Our Housing Support Services help people who are at risk of homelessness, living in temporary accommodation, or facing challenges such as poverty, mental health issues, or domestic abuse. 

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Manager to lead our Pathways Home Floating Support Service across West Sussex. Pathways Home provides person-centred support to people living in their own homes, temporary accommodation or moving into independent housing. 

    We work alongside local authorities, housing providers, health services and community organisations to help people maintain stable accommodation, improve their wellbeing, develop independent living skills and prevent homelessness. 

    As Team Manager, you will lead and support a dedicated frontline team delivering housing support services in the community. You will help create a positive, psychologically informed environment where both colleagues and clients can thrive. 

    We are looking for someone who shares our values and can inspire others to achieve great outcomes. You may already be managing a housing support service, or you may have developed strong housing and homelessness knowledge and be ready to take the next step into leadership.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience
    What you’ll need for the role: 

    A passion for supporting people to achieve greater independence and housing stability.

    The ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, clients and partner organisations.

    Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills. 

    A commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed and psychologically informed practice. 

    The ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions.

    Confidence supporting staff, managing performance and maintaining high-quality services.

    A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across West Sussex. 

    An enhanced DBS check (paid for by Southdown). 
     What would be nice: 

    Knowledge of housing support, homelessness, tenancy sustainment or community-based support services.

    Experience leading, supervising or developing a team

    Experience of safeguarding, risk management or supporting people with complex needs. 

    Experience using performance information or service data to improve outcomes. 

    Experience working alongside commissioners, local authorities or other partner organisations.
