How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Manchester (Hybrid) – £60k

9‑Day Fortnight | Hybrid Working | L&D Support | Diverse Project Portfolio (Retail, Commercial, Science, Aviation)

Ada Meher is partnered with a leading MEP Consultancy as they seek an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their Manchester office. This team delivers design‑led MEP solutions across RIBA Stages 2-4, working on a wide range of technically varied environments - including Retail, Commercial, Residential, Science & Research facilities, Stadiums, Airports, Hospitals and more.

You’ll be joining a business known for its structured progression pathways, strong L&D culture and collaborative engineering environment. The role is fully design‑focused, working closely with Mechanical, Electrical and Sustainability specialists to produce high‑quality building services designs across a broad project mix.

The consultancy operates a hybrid model, typically 2-3 days per week in the office depending on team requirements. As part of their commitment to work/life balance employees have the option to condense their hours into a 9-day fortnight, giving a 4-day week every other week. With a clear banding system, the business offers transparent development routes and ongoing support from a dedicated L&D team.

    To Be Considered:

    * Experience in Electrical Design Engineering within the Building Services sector

    * Background designing systems such as small power, lighting, security, containment and distribution

    * Experience delivering MEP designs across RIBA Stages 2–4

    * CIBSE accreditation or industry relevant charters would be a bonus

    * Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

    * Comfortable working across sectors such as Commercial, Residential, Science, Healthcare, Aviation or similar

    * Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with clients and internal stakeholders

    * A desire to progress within a structured banding and development framework

This Principal Electrical Engineer role is expected to attract strong interest, particularly given the project variety and progression structure. If you’d like to be considered, please send a CV or apply within to avoid missing out
