How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Overview

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and methodical Lab Analyst to join our team in providing reliable and accurate analytical support. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science, committed to quality assurance, and capable of working both independently and as part of a diverse and collaborative team. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring compliance with internal standards and customer requirements, while supporting a culture of continuous improvement and inclusion.

    Responsibilities

    Conduct Key Analyses: Perform detailed and accurate analysis on samples to ensure data integrity and quality.
    Adhere to Analytical Schedules: Follow predefined analytical schedules for timely sample tests and reporting.
    SAP Management: Use SAP to manage analytical workflows, process worksheets, and log results effectively.
    Data Reporting: Accurately document and report analytical results in SAP and Microsoft Excel, ensuring insights are well-organized and actionable.
    Sample Collection: Collect, handle, and prepare samples for testing, ensuring consistency and compliance with laboratory protocols and safety regulations.
    Equipment Calibration and Maintenance: Perform routine checks, calibrations, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory instruments to maintain optimal functionality.
    Collaborative Efforts: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, efficiency, and improved lab operations.
    Compliance: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental guidelines and maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive data.
    Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing laboratory processes and workflows to meet evolving business needs.
    Qualifications

    Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
    Skills in Analysis: Proficiency in conducting and interpreting chemical and biological analyses.
    Software Knowledge: Hands-on experience with SAP for laboratory tasks and data management; Excel proficiency.
    Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to report findings clearly and effectively across diverse teams.
    Organizational Skills: Exceptional ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and adhere to strict deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
    Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results-driven approach.
    Safety Conscious: Comprehensive understanding of lab safety protocols and ability to promote a safe work environment.
    Inclusive Mindset: Commitment to fostering an environment that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    Day-to-Day

    Carrying out analysis in accordance with analytical schedules/SAP worksheets.
    Reporting analytical results in SAP, excel or as instructed.
    Pass or fail verdict on in process samples.
    Sample collection and appropriate storage/retention as required.
    Operating, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
    Providing a troubleshooting analytical service to the operate and improve plant teams.
    Non routine analysis as required.
    Preparing and analyze final product stability samples.
    Prepare laboratory reagents and standards.
    Assist with Supplier, Customer, and site deviation investigations.
    Providing support and training to the process teams on GMP, ISO and Quality issues.
    Maintaining up to date documentation in the laboratory area (e.g., analytical methods, COSHH, manual handling assessments, risk assessments etc.).
    Monitoring environmental and waste streams.
    Must operate within the policies and practices of the company and within laws relating to employment.

    The working hours are 07:45-17:00 Monday to Thursday & 07:45-12:25 Friday.

    The basic pay is £15.64/h.

    Please note – this is an 18-month temporary assignment for maternity cover.
