How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Finishing Foreman to lead and supervise all finishing activities on construction projects, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, programme, and client expectations.

The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on construction experience, strong leadership skills, an excellent eye for detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple finishing trades and subcontractors through to project completion and handover.

    Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate all finishing works from the relevant stage of construction through to practical completion and handover.

Manage and direct finishing trades, subcontractors, and site operatives on a daily basis.

Ensure all works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.

Coordinate activities including drylining, plastering, rendering, screeding, tiling, flooring, painting and decorating, carpentry, joinery, doors, ironmongery, kitchens, bathrooms, and final finishes.

Plan daily and weekly workloads and allocate labour and resources effectively.

Monitor progress against the construction programme and identify potential delays before they impact the project.

Work closely with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure smooth sequencing of works.

Inspect completed works and maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail.

Identify defects, incomplete works, and snagging items and ensure they are rectified promptly.

Carry out regular quality inspections and ensure works comply with project specifications and industry standards.

Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and finishing details.

Coordinate multiple trades to avoid clashes, rework, and unnecessary delays.

Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised working environment.

Ensure all operatives and subcontractors follow site health and safety procedures.

Assist with inspections by clients, consultants, building control, and other project representatives.

Maintain accurate records of progress, labour, materials, defects, and completed works where required.

Assist with final inspections, snagging, de-snagging, commissioning, and project handover.

Lead by example and maintain professional standards of behaviour, workmanship, and site discipline.

    Experience & Qualifications

    Essential:

Extensive experience as a Finishing Foreman, Finishing Supervisor, General Foreman, or similar senior site position.

Strong background in construction finishing and fit-out works.

Proven experience supervising multiple finishing trades and subcontractors.

Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and finishing standards.

Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.

Proven ability to manage programmes, priorities, and deadlines.

Strong understanding of site health and safety requirements.

    Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Ability to identify poor workmanship and ensure issues are corrected to the required standard.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

    Personal Attributes

    The ideal candidate will be:

Highly experienced and confident in managing finishing operations.

A strong and respected leader who can get the best from subcontractors and site teams.

    Extremely quality-conscious and detail-oriented.

Practical, organised, and capable of making decisions under pressure.

Proactive in identifying problems and finding solutions.

Reliable, professional, and committed to delivering work on programme.

An excellent communicator who can work effectively with management, trades, subcontractors, and clients.

Willing to take ownership of the finishing phase and drive the project through to a high-quality completion.

    What We Are Looking For

This is a senior position for an individual who knows construction inside out, particularly the finishing stages of a project. You should be comfortable taking control of multiple trades, resolving site issues, maintaining high standards, and pushing a project towards completion without compromising quality.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong practical knowledge, leadership, attention to detail, and the authority to manage finishing operations effectively from first fix through to final handover.

If you tell me the type of construction (e.g. high-end residential, apartments, commercial, hotels)
