How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Technician – Energy from Waste

    Location: Slough
    Sector: Energy from Waste / Power Generation
    Salary: £49,000 + £2,500 On-Call Bonus
    Benefits: Private Medical & Dental | Income Protection | 4x Salary Death in Service | Up to 10% Contributory Pension

    The Opportunity

    We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join the Operations & Maintenance team at an Energy from Waste facility in Slough.

    Working as part of the site maintenance team, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across the facility, helping ensure high levels of plant availability, reliability and performance while maintaining strong HSEQ standards.

    Mechanical Technician Responsibilities

    * Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance and repairs across plant systems and equipment.

    * Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repairs.

    * Inspect, lubricate, adjust and maintain equipment to maximise plant reliability.

    * Work across equipment including conveyors, gearboxes, valves, steam systems and hydraulic systems.

    * Plan, execute and document maintenance activities.

    * Conduct risk assessments and ensure work is completed in accordance with safe systems of work and HSEQ procedures.

    * Support planned shutdowns and outage maintenance activities.

    * Identify and report plant defects, hazards and areas of non-compliance.

    * Participate in HSE inspections, audits and safety meetings.

    * Work closely with operations and other maintenance disciplines to minimise plant downtime.

    * Contribute to a strong safety-first culture across the facility.

    Mechanical Technician Background:

    To be considered, you should have:

    * A recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent – essential.

    * Mechanical maintenance experience within a heavy industrial or process environment.

    * Strong knowledge of gearboxes, conveyors, valves, steam systems and hydraulics.

    * Experience in fault finding, preventative maintenance, maintenance planning and outage support.

    * Previous experience within Energy from Waste, power generation, biomass, petrochemical, manufacturing or another heavy process environment would be highly advantageous.

    * IOSH Managing Safely and/or an HNC/HND in Engineering would be desirable.

    Mechanical Technician Package:

    * £49,000 basic salary

    * £2,500 on-call bonus

    * Up to 10% contributory pension
