How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    HR Business Partner - Employee Relations | Birmingham - Office Based | £45K to £50K | Full Time, Permanent

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Business Partner to join a busy manufacturing environment based in Birmingham. This is a hands-on HR role with a strong focus on Employee Relations, supporting the business across a broad range of HR activity. You will work closely with managers, employees and trade unions, providing pragmatic and commercially focused HR advice across a fast-paced operational environment. The role would suit an experienced HR professional who enjoys being close to the business, is confident managing complex ER cases and has experience operating within a unionised manufacturing environment.

    The Role

    Reporting to the HR Manager, you will provide a proactive HR Business Partnering service, with Employee Relations forming the core of the position.

    Key responsibilities will include:

    Managing complex disciplinary, grievance and investigation processes, through to dismissal where appropriate.
    Providing expert advice and guidance to managers on a broad range of employment matters.
    Working closely with trade unions and employee representatives on Employee Relations matters.
    Supporting attendance and absence management across the business.
    Providing support with recruitment, selection and assessment activity.
    Supporting the delivery of training on HR policies and procedures.
    Supporting the annual performance management and development process.
    Advising on changes to employment legislation and recommending updates to HR policies and processes.
    Providing advice and support on employee engagement initiatives.
    Managing and responding to HR-related queries within your area of expertise.
    Supporting the HR Manager and attending meetings on their behalf when required.
    Supporting the management and coordination of employment tribunal claims, working alongside HR leadership and external legal advisers.
    Ensuring company policies, procedures and employment legislation are consistently understood and applied.
    Building strong relationships with employees, managers and wider stakeholders.
    Contributing to the wider HR team and supporting colleagues when required.About You

    We are looking for an experienced HR professional with a strong background in Employee Relations and a practical understanding of employment law.

    You will ideally have:

    CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent.
    An additional Employment Law qualification would be desirable.
    Proven experience working in an HR/Employee Relations role.
    Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or similarly fast-paced operational environment.
    Strong practical knowledge of UK employment law.
    Ideally have experience working within a unionised environment.
    Experience managing complex disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters.What We're Looking For
