How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client, a well known manufacturing business in the West Yorkshire region is recruiting for a Materials Handler. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will play an important part in keeping materials, components and finished products moving safely and efficiently throughout the site.

Working across different areas of the operation, you will use FLT and overhead crane equipment to support production, stores, dispatch and other departments on a day-to-day basis. We are looking for someone who is safety-conscious, reliable and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can change throughout the day.

As a Materials Handler, your duties will include:

Operating Forklift Trucks (FLT) safely to move, load, unload and position materials across the manufacturing site.
Operating overhead cranes and lifting equipment to safely handle materials and components.
Delivering raw materials and components to production areas in line with operational requirements.
Moving finished and semi-finished products between manufacturing, storage and dispatch areas.
Loading and unloading vehicles and checking incoming and outgoing materials where required.
Supporting production, stores, warehouse, goods-in and dispatch teams with day-to-day material movements.
Ensuring materials are stored safely, securely and in the correct designated locations.
Responding to material requests from different areas of the business and helping to keep production running efficiently.
Carrying out basic checks on FLTs, cranes and associated material-handling equipment before use.
Following lifting plans, safe working procedures and site health and safety requirements.
Maintaining good housekeeping standards and keeping work areas, storage locations and access routes clean and organised.
Reporting damaged materials, equipment defects, shortages or potential safety issues promptly.
Supporting stock movements and basic inventory activities as required.
Assisting with general operational duties across the site during busy periods.
Working closely with colleagues and supervisors to prioritise workloads and ensure materials are available where and when they are needed.
    You will also ideally have:

Experience operating an FLT, with a current recognised licence/certificate preferred.
Previous experience operating an overhead crane or other lifting equipment.
Good awareness of health and safety within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience handling heavy, large or awkward materials safely.
A practical, hands-on approach to work.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with different departments.
The ability to organise and prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
A flexible attitude and willingness to support different areas of the business when required.
Good attention to detail when handling, storing and moving materials.
A reliable approach to attendance, timekeeping and completing daily responsibilities
