How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description: Independent of MEP Clerk Works (Quality Inspector)

    Project Type: Residential - New Build RC frame

    Position Type: Independent Quality inspector / Clerk of works / 2 days per week at 8 hours per day

    Reporting To: Client / Project Manager

    Position Overview:

    -We are seeking a highly meticulous, independent MEP Clerk of Works (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) to act as the client’s independent eyes and ears on-site for a luxury new build residential project in London - Highgate area.

    -The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in high-end residential MEP works, ensuring all installations strictly adhere to design specifications, British Standards, and building regulations.

    -You will operate independently from the main contractor to champion exceptional build quality, prevent defects, and ensure seamless system handovers.

    Key Responsibilities: Technical Inspection & Quality Control:
    -Electrical Systems: Inspect heavy-duty cable tray containment networks, ensuring correct bracket spacing, structural loading, and strict BS 7671 compliance.
    Verifying physical separation between power, data, and extra-low voltage cables.

    -Mechanical Ventilation (MVHR): Inspect rigid ductwork routing, joint sealing, acoustic attenuation, thermal insulation and fire dampers. Verify air-flow balancing reports and ensure clear physical access for future filter maintenance.

    -Swimming Pool Systems: Oversee the installation of 2no swimming pools (internal and external) pumps, dedicated plant rooms and external pool-room including ASHP installations.

    -Domestic Water Installations: Enforce strict compliance with WRAS and Water Regulations.
    Witness and sign off all hydrostatic pressure tests before structural elements are enclosed.

    Site Monitoring & Witnessing:

    -Conduct rigorous visual inspections of all first and second-fix MEP installations.

    -Review materials arriving on-site to confirm they match the approved technical submittals and specified high-end luxury standards.

    -Physically witness and formally sign off on all MEP commissioning, balancing, and pressure testing processes.

    -Reporting & Communication: Maintain a comprehensive, digital, photographic site diary tracking daily progress, weather impacts, and subcontractor headcount.

    -Produce weekly quality reports using site management software, categorizing and tracking defects.

    -Attend site progress meetings to review outstanding snags and coordinate constructively with the lead Project Manager and MEP subcontractors.

    Personal Qualifications & Experience:

    -Essential Professional Membership: Full Member (MICWCI) or Fellow (FICWCI) of the Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Professionals.

    -Valid CSCS Black or White Card, alongside SMSTS or SSSTS safety training.

    -Project Track Record: Minimum of 5–7 years experience acting as an MEP Clerk of Works or Quality Inspector on high-end, luxury residential new builds in the UK.

    -Standards Expertise: Deep working knowledge of UK Building Regulations (specifically Parts F, G, L, and P), BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), and WRAS guidelines.

    -Digital Literacy: Proficient in using digital snagging applications, tablet-based reporting tools, and navigating digital MEP 2D drawings and BIM models. Desirable Affiliation or technical background with CIBSE (Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) or CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering).

    -Prior experience managing installations for indoor/outdoor swimming pools and complex plant rooms.

    Key Attributes:

    -Ability to remain entirely objective, fair, and focused solely on protecting the client's interests and budget. A firm but collaborative communication style when dealing with contractors, resolving quality disputes constructively. A natural inclination to spot hidden snags, installation clashes, and potential future maintenance issues before they are closed up behind finishes
