The Associate Building Surveyor Role
You will lead on a broad commercial building surveying workload, taking ownership of client relationships and project delivery across sectors including investment, retail, office and industrial. The role blends technical delivery with genuine business development responsibility, and there is scope to develop a specialism if that suits your career direction.
Day-to-day, you will manage your own instructions from commission through to completion, mentor junior team members, and contribute to growing the Birmingham office's profile with existing and new clients. Senior leadership is accessible and genuinely open to input on the direction of the team.
Duties of the Associate Building Surveyor to include:
Leading on contract administration across commercial refurbishment and fit-out projects
Delivering technical due diligence reports on behalf of institutional investor clients
Managing dilapidations claims from initial assessment through to settlement
Undertaking building pathology investigations and producing detailed remediation strategies
Developing and maintaining client relationships to generate repeat and new instructions
Supporting fee targets and contributing to business development activity
Mentoring and supervising junior surveyors within the team
Preparing and presenting reports to clients to a high professional standardThe Person?
A commercially minded Chartered Building Surveyor ready to take on more responsibility and influence at Associate level.
The Associate Building Surveyor will ideally have:
BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying and MRICS status
Strong experience in commercial building surveying across multiple disciplines
Sound knowledge of building contracts in a commercial context
Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships
Accurate, well-structured report writing skills
A track record of meeting fee targets and contributing to business growth

Salary of £75,000 - £90,000 depending on experience
