How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Structural Engineer
    Central London

If you're a Structural Engineer looking for a role where the projects, location and long-term career opportunity all stack up, this is well worth exploring.

A leading multidisciplinary engineering Consultancy is growing its Structural Engineering team in Central London, offering the chance to work on an exciting and genuinely varied portfolio of projects while being based just a short walk from Liverpool Street Station.

This is an opportunity to become part of a highly regarded engineering Consultancy with the technical capability to take on complex and challenging projects, while retaining a collaborative team environment where individuals can genuinely make an impact. You'll also have access to a broad network of technical expertise and multidisciplinary support, creating plenty of opportunity to learn, collaborate and broaden your experience.

The Structural Engineering team works across the built environment, delivering projects from early feasibility and concept design through detailed design and construction. There is a real emphasis on combining strong engineering fundamentals with intelligent, sustainable and increasingly digital design.

You'll have the opportunity to design across a range of structural materials and tackle considerably more than straightforward new-build design. The wider team's capabilities extend into refurbishment and rehabilitation, structural assessments, foundation engineering, surveys and inspections, structural fire engineering, low-carbon solutions and specialist analysis, alongside traditional Structural Engineering.

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you'll take an important position within the London team, becoming involved in projects from the early stages and seeing your designs develop all the way through to site.

You'll produce and oversee structural analysis and design, coordinate closely with architects and other engineering disciplines, attend meetings and site visits, contribute to technical decision-making and increasingly take ownership of your own elements of projects.

There is also plenty of opportunity to work collaboratively with specialists beyond the immediate London office. Tetra Tech operates across buildings, transport, energy, defence, water and infrastructure, with multidisciplinary teams covering engineering, architecture, environment, sustainability, planning and development.

Digital engineering is a major part of how the team works. Tetra Tech uses integrated BIM, analysis, modelling and drawing technologies to improve coordination and deliver efficient, lower-impact structural solutions.

    What are they looking for?

You'll ideally be an experienced Structural Engineer who has developed within a UK Consultancy environment and is comfortable designing buildings using a range of materials.
Experience with several of TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, SCIA, Revit and AutoCAD would be beneficial, although nobody is expected to tick every software box.
More importantly, you'll have sound engineering judgement, enjoy solving technical problems and be comfortable working collaboratively with architects, clients and other disciplines.
You should hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and ideally be working towards Chartered status, approaching Chartership or already Chartered. You will also need to be eligible for UK security clearance.
For somebody ambitious, this is a role with plenty of room to develop. You'll be surrounded by experienced engineers, exposed to technically interesting projects and given the opportunity to build your responsibilities as your career progresses.

And for a London role, the location is difficult to beat - right in Central London and only a short walk from Liverpool Street Station, making it particularly accessible from across London and the surrounding commuter network.

If you're a Senior Structural Engineer who wants better project exposure, a strong technical environment and the backing of a major multidisciplinary Consultancy without disappearing into the crowd, this could be an excellent next move.
