An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join a busy and growing independent automotive repair business in Peterborough.
Working within a modern, well-equipped workshop, you will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and mechanical repairs on a wide variety of vehicles. A large proportion of your workload will involve fleet vehicles, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards and returned to the road safely and efficiently.
This role would suit an experienced Vehicle Technician, Mechanic, Service Technician, Diagnostic Technician or Light Vehicle Technician with experience working in a dealership, independent garage, fleet maintenance environment or commercial workshop.
The Main Purpose of the Role
* Carry out proactive and reactive servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs on a wide range of cars and light commercial vehicles.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using the latest diagnostic equipment and advanced fault-finding techniques.
* Interpret diagnostic results and road test findings to accurately identify the root cause of faults and determine the appropriate repair.
* Diagnose, repair and replace engines, fuel injection systems and other major mechanical components in line with manufacturer specifications.
* Complete MOT preparation and carry out any remedial work required.
* Repair and replace brakes, suspension, steering, clutches, timing belts, engines and other mechanical components.
* Carry out inspections and vehicle health checks, identifying any additional work required.
* Successfully repair and replace worn, damaged or faulty components to restore vehicles to full working order.
* Work efficiently on a variety of fleet vehicles, ensuring minimal downtime while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
* Liaise with the Service Advisor regarding repair progress and any additional work identified.
* Complete all job cards and workshop documentation accurately.
* Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company standards.
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
* Follow all Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
You Will Have
* Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician, Mechanic, Service Technician, Diagnostic Technician or Light Vehicle Technician.
* Experience carrying out proactive and reactive servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs on a variety of vehicle makes and models.
* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills with the ability to accurately identify and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
* Experience diagnosing, repairing and replacing engines, fuel systems and other major mechanical components.
* Experience working within a busy workshop, dealership, independent garage or fleet maintenance environment.
* NVQ Level 3, IMI or equivalent qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair would be advantageous.
* A full UK Driving Licence.
