Role Overview
Are you a qualified Occupational Therapist looking to apply your professional skills in a different and highly rewarding way?
We are recruiting an Occupational Therapist (Employment & Wellbeing) to join a specialist vocational rehabilitation team, supporting individuals whose health conditions, disabilities, neurodiversity or wellbeing challenges impact their ability to gain, retain or progress in employment.
  
This is an exciting opportunity to move into a growing area of Occupational Therapy practice, combining rehabilitation, health, wellbeing and employability support to create meaningful and lasting change in people's lives.
Whether you currently work in physical health, mental health, rehabilitation, community services, social care, occupational health or supported employment, or you are a newly qualified Occupational Therapist looking to develop specialist skills within vocational rehabilitation, we would love to hear from you.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will focus on functional ability rather than diagnosis alone, helping participants identify barriers, build confidence, improve independence and achieve sustainable employment outcomes.
As an Occupational Therapist (Employment & Wellbeing), you will work closely with Employment Advisors, Wellbeing Specialists, employers and external partners to develop practical interventions, workplace solutions and personalised support plans that help individuals thrive both in work and in life.
  
Key Responsibilities
  
Vocational Rehabilitation & Assessment
· Deliver specialist vocational rehabilitation support to individuals experiencing health, disability, neurodiversity or wellbeing barriers.
· Assess functional ability and the impact of physical and mental health conditions on employment.
· Conduct comprehensive vocational, occupational and functional assessments.
· Develop tailored intervention strategies that support progression towards sustainable employment.
· Create work capability profiles and personalised support plans.
  
Workplace Health & Employment Support
· Develop return-to-work plans and workplace adjustment recommendations.
· Support participants to identify realistic and achievable employment goals.
· Provide practical strategies to manage health conditions within the workplace.
· Develop in-work support plans that promote job retention and sustainment.
· Support individuals to improve confidence, resilience and independence.
  
Specialist Advice & Clinical Practice
· Apply professional judgement and strong clinical reasoning to identify barriers, risks and opportunities.
· Provide specialist advice to colleagues regarding vocational rehabilitation and workplace health.
· Support multidisciplinary triage and pathway allocation activities.
· Promote best practice in workplace inclusion, reasonable adjustments and vocational recovery.
  
Employer & Stakeholder Engagement
· Build positive working relationships with employers and partner organisations.
· Provide guidance on workplace adjustments and inclusive employment practices.
· Support employers to understand functional barriers and practical solutions.
· Promote employment opportunities that align with participant strengths and capabilities.
  
Quality, Compliance & Reporting
· Maintain accurate records, assessment reports and action plans.
· Ensure compliance with professional, contractual and organisational standards.
· Contribute to service evaluation and continuous improvement activity.
· Support achievement of programme outcomes and quality measures.
  
Essential Criteria
· Current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
· Degree qualification in Occupational Therapy.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong assessment, problem-solving and clinical reasoning abilities.
· Experience supporting individuals with complex health, disability or wellbeing needs.
· Experience producing professional reports, assessments and action plans.
· Person-centred, strengths-based approach.
· Strong organisational and time-management skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft 365.
· Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake occasional regional travel.

· Knowledge of workplace adjustments and Access to Work.
· Understanding of disability employment and workplace inclusion.
· Experience supporting return-to-work programmes.
· Knowledge of employment-related health and wellbeing interventions.
· Newly qualified Occupational Therapists with a strong interest in vocational rehabilitation are encouraged to apply.

· Home-based role covering the South West region.
· Travel required as and when service delivery requires.
