How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Project / Senior Quantity Surveyor – Heavy Civils & Structures
Tier 1 Main Contractor – Slough / West London

    Salary/Package: £70,000 – £75,000 + Company Car or Car Allowance + Pension + Private Medical + Bonus + Package

O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with a multi-billion turnover Tier 1 main contractor who are looking to appoint a Project/Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a significant project in Slough.

The successful candidate will take commercial responsibility as Commercial No.2 on a £125m section of the project, which includes significant heavy civil and structural works, working under an NEC form of contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor who is ready to take the step up into a Senior position, with the client open to someone who has the capability to take on the additional responsibility.

The project is not rail or highways, providing an opportunity for someone from a traditional civils/infrastructure background to broaden their experience into a different area of the sector while still working on a major, technically challenging project.

The role will be based in Slough and will suit candidates based across West London, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and the surrounding areas. A background check will be required for the successful candidate.

    Role Overview:

Title: Project / Senior Quantity Surveyor
Project: Major Heavy Civil & Structural Development
    Location: Slough / West London
    Project Value: £125m section
    Position: Commercial No.2
    Contract: NEC
    Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 + Package
    Start: ASAP / Negotiable
    Type: Permanent
    Background Check: Required
    Responsibilities:

Taking commercial responsibility as Commercial No.2 on a £125m section of the project
Managing the commercial delivery of significant heavy civil and structural works
Working under an NEC form of contract and managing the associated commercial processes
Procuring and commercially managing subcontract packages from tender through to final account
Preparing and reviewing valuations, variations, applications and payment notices
Monitoring project costs, forecasting expenditure and maintaining accurate commercial reporting
Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
Working closely with project managers, construction teams, design teams, clients and subcontractors
Supporting the wider commercial team and contributing to the successful delivery of the project
    Requirements:

Proven experience working as a Project Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
Previous experience with NEC forms of contract is essential
Experience working on heavy civil, structural or major infrastructure projects would be advantageous
Strong commercial awareness with experience managing subcontract packages and project costs
A time-served Project QS who is ready to take the step up to Senior would be considered
Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work autonomously while operating effectively as part of a wider commercial team
Willingness to undergo the required background checks
If you're an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor looking for the opportunity to step up into a Senior position while working on a £125m section of a major project for a multi-billion turnover Tier 1 contractor, please contact Ned Scott-Mends on (phone number removed), or send your CV via email at .
