How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Structures Engineer

    Location: East Anglia
    Contract: Permanent
    Salary: £55,000 - £65,000

    About the Role
    We are looking for an experienced Senior Structures Engineer to join an established highways and infrastructure team, delivering essential maintenance, renewal and improvement schemes across the UK.
    You'll play a key role in the delivery of structures maintenance and improvement projects, taking responsibility for technical design, project delivery, resource planning and the coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
    This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Engineer or highly experienced engineer looking to take on a senior technical and leadership position within a growing infrastructure environment.
    The role

    Lead the delivery of structures maintenance and improvement schemes, ensuring projects are delivered to agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
    Undertake technical design checks and provide technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
    Carry out site visits and structures inspections, producing condition assessments and inspection reports.
    Plan and coordinate engineering resources to meet project and programme requirements.
    Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including external consultants and sub-consultants.
    Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, clients and other stakeholders.
    Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, procedures and technical requirements.
    Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety and environmental compliance throughout design and construction activities.
    Lead and support the development of junior engineers and other members of the technical team.
    Undertake staff performance reviews, training and development, and performance management where required.
    Contribute to the effective administration and management of NEC contracts.
    You'll ideally have:

    Chartered Engineer status or significant relevant engineering experience with progression towards CEng.
    Proven experience in the inspection and design of structures.
    Experience using structures analysis and design software such as LUSAS, Superstress or similar.
    Knowledge and practical experience of National Highways and Local Authority design standards and contracts.
    Good working knowledge of Eurocodes and their application to structural design.
    Experience of design resource planning and customer programme management.
    Proven understanding of managing Health & Safety within design and construction.
    Experience with the NEC suite of contracts and contract administration.
