How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, healthy meals and snacks for children and families during breakfast and lunchtime service. You will play a key role in ensuring our kitchen operates safely, efficiently and to the highest hygiene standards.

    Key Responsibilities
    - Prepare and cook healthy breakfast and lunchtime meals.
    - Plan and prepare food in line with dietary requirements and allergies.
    - Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and service.
    - Order food supplies and kitchen stock as required.
    - Monitor stock levels and carry out effective stock rotation.
    - Ensure compliance with all HACCP and food safety procedures.
    - Complete daily food safety and temperature records.
    - Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment.
    - Clean food preparation and kitchen areas in accordance with hygiene standards.
    - Work collaboratively with colleagues within the job share arrangement to ensure continuity of service.
    - Follow all health and safety policies and procedures.

    About You

    The ideal candidate will have:

    - Previous experience working as a chef, cook or kitchen professional.
    - A good understanding of food hygiene, food safety and HACCP requirements.
    - Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
    - Experience of stock management and ordering.
    - Knowledge of allergen management and dietary requirements.
    - Excellent organisational and time management skills.
    - The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    - A flexible approach to working arrangements and shift patterns.
    - A genuine interest in providing healthy, nutritious food for children and families.

    What We Offer

    - Flexible job share working arrangement.
    - Supportive and friendly team environment.
    - Opportunity to make a positive impact on children's wellbeing.
    - Ongoing training and development opportunities.
    - Competitive salary and staff benefits.

This role is an hourly paid position due to the flexibility required in the job share.

If you are a dedicated chef who enjoys preparing healthy meals in a fun, family-focused environment, we would love to hear from you.
