Trainee CNC Machinist

Fortis recruitment are working with a n exciting engineering company based in the Biggin Hill area to recruit a trainee CNC machinist. We are looking for candidates that have a relevant engineering / manufacturing qualification or apprenticeship with some practical workshop or manufacturing experience. This is a full time position and is Monday – Friday.

The trainee CNC machinist will work alongside experienced machinists and engineers to gain hands-on experience in CNC milling and turning. You will learn to set, operate and program the machines. You will also develop skills in inspection.

Role Responsibilities

* Operate and assist with setting CNC turning and milling machines

* Load and make basic adjustments to CNC programmes

* Read engineering drawings and work to specified tolerances

* Use verniers, micrometers and other precision measuring equipment

* Develop knowledge of tooling, cutting speeds, feeds and machining processes

What we are looking for

* Keen to learn and develop CNC machining skills

* Practical, reliable and methodical

* Comfortable reading basic engineering drawings

* A good team player with a positive attitude

The trainee CNC machinist will receive training and development (inhouse and external) whilst being mentored. You will work closely in a team who are there to support you and assist in your development.
