How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We're currently recruiting for a Pre-Assembly Operative to join a well-established engineering company based in the Gloucester area, specifically around the Goodridge area. This is initially a contract position for 6 months, covering a member of the, but there is a great opportunity for this to become a permanent position in 2027.

You'll be joining their pre-assembly team, working in a hands-on engineering environment where you'll be responsible for locating, picking and packing the items required for the assembly process. It's a varied role where you'll be kept busy throughout the day and will play an important part in making sure the wider production operation has everything it needs.

This is going to be ideal for someone who enjoys a practical, hands-on role and likes working in an environment where you can get stuck in and learn new skills. Previous engineering, manufacturing, warehouse or assembly experience would be a big advantage, particularly if you've worked with components, tools or technical products before.

That said, full training will be provided, so we're very open to someone who may not have direct engineering experience but has the right attitude, is keen to learn and enjoys working with their hands. You'll also have a supportive team around you who will help you get up to speed.

The role itself will be based fully on-site in the Gloucester/Goodridge area, working Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.00pm.

What to expect day to day:

Pre-Assembly Support: Work as part of the pre-assembly team, helping to prepare and organise the components required for the assembly process.

Locating & Picking: Locate and pick the correct items and components, ensuring everything required is available and ready for the next stage.

Packing: Pack components and items accurately and safely, making sure they are prepared correctly for assembly or dispatch.

Stock & Organisation: Help keep the pre-assembly area organised and ensure components are stored correctly and are easy to locate.

Engineering Environment: Work within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment, following processes and instructions to ensure work is completed accurately.

Quality & Accuracy: Take care when handling components and make sure the correct parts are picked and prepared to the required standards.

Teamwork: Work closely with the wider pre-assembly and engineering teams, supporting colleagues and helping to keep the operation running smoothly.

Health & Safety: Follow all relevant health and safety procedures and ensure the work area is kept clean, tidy and safe.

What do we need from you:

Hands-On Approach: You'll need to enjoy practical, hands-on work and be happy working in an environment where you're on your feet and getting stuck into the role.

Engineering/Assembly Experience: Previous engineering, manufacturing or assembly experience would be a huge bonus, particularly if you've worked with components or technical products before.

Organisation & Accuracy: You'll need to be organised, have good attention to detail and take care when locating and picking the correct items.

Willingness to Learn: Full training is provided, so we're happy to consider candidates without direct experience who have the right attitude and are keen to learn.

Teamwork: Someone who enjoys working as part of a supportive team and is happy to help colleagues when required.

Work Ethic: Reliable, hardworking and willing to get stuck into a busy, hands-on environment.

Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.

Right to Work: You must have the right to live and work full-time in the UK.

Location: You'll need to be able to reliably commute to the Gloucester/Goodridge area for this fully site-based position.
