How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Systems Developer x 2

    Purpose of Role/Job Overview

    We are seeking 2 talented and motivated Python Developers, one with 1-2 years experience and the other with 2-4 years of experience to join our clients technology team. You will play a key role in building, and maintaining software solutions that support our clients business systems, data pipelines, and automation initiatives.

    Key Accountabilities

    Design, develop, test, and maintain Python applications, scripts, and services

    Build and maintain APIs and integrations with third-party systems and internal platforms

    Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following best practices (PEP 8, SOLID principles)

    Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, data, QA, operations) to translate business requirements into technical solutions

    Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and agile ceremonies

    Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues in a timely manner

    Contribute to the design and optimisation of data pipelines and database interactions

    Support CI/CD pipeline development and deployment automation

    Write and maintain unit, integration, and regression tests

    Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements where relevant

    Assist in 2nd/3rd line support

    Qualifications

    GCSEs in maths and English or equivalent

    Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) desirable

    Knowledge

    2-4 years of professional experience developing applications in Python

    Strong understanding of Python fundamentals, object-oriented programming, and design patterns

    Experience with at least one modern Python web framework (e.g. Django, Flask, or FastAPI)

    Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and SQL

    Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative workflows (e.g. GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket)

    Experience with RESTful API design and integration

    Experience of software testing principles and experience writing unit tests (e.g. pytest, unittest)

    Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment

    Good understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and CI/CD principles

    Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

    Good communication skills, both written and verbal

    Skills/Abilities/ Competencies

    Key attributes a developer should be able to demonstrate the ability to work unsupervised

    Deliver to agreed timescales, or to highlight issues as soon as they arise if likely to affect those timescales

    The ability to work and communicate effectively within a team

    Ability to write unit tests and to understand how to perform integration testing

    Analysing and clarifying requirements & technical designs

    Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to other developers

    Paying attention to the security requirements of working within a PCI-DSS accredited environment, specifically writing secure code

    Communicating effectively throughout the development process with all stake holders and management

    Gain insights of the business within the market based on an understanding of business trends

    Desirable skills

    Experience of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

    Experience of containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)

    Exposure to data engineering tools/libraries (e.g. Pandas, NumPy) or NLP libraries

    Knowledge of message queues/event-driven architecture (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka)

    Understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)

    Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g. financial services, insurance, healthcare)

    Familiarity with front-end basics (JavaScript, HTML/CSS) for full-stack contributions

    Knowledge of software security best practices
